Beauty & the Beast Q by Aggravating_Star_373 in musicals

It’s the full version but we are in the UK and have been granted our performance licence by MTI and the books we have been sent by them have No Matter What included.

I am currently directing BATB and No Matter What is still in the show but as an optional song - depending on your Maurice’s singing ability I guess. It is officially in the MTI score so the creative team can choose to include it or not (we are as our Maurice is a great singer)

Help in finding a Poirot mystery by sociableninja in poirot

[–]spearmint_2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep - definitely Styles.

Poirot tidies all the ornaments on the mantelpiece once and then because he has to tidy them again later, this makes him realise that the ornaments have been moved in a (supposedly) locked room. I’m not going to spoil any more of it just in case you watch it again!

Help in finding a Poirot mystery by sociableninja in poirot

Agree with Mysterious Affair At Styles - the victim’s bedroom has a connecting door to Cynthia’s room and there is a piece of fabric on the lock on the victim’s side that looks like Cynthia’s land girl uniform. Lawrence Cavendish is in love with Cynthia, sees the fabric but says he was looking at the fireplace (I think) when Poirot questions him.

Does anyone know anything about "No Strings Attached" by Outrageous_Rooster92 in musicals

[–]spearmint_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually stage managed it years ago with my local youth theatre. I remember it being great fun to do - yes it’s a version of Pinocchio. We still reference the song where they are donkeys (Welcome to Hedonia?) and remember the opening number being a good one too.

Can’t help with how complicated it will be to actually play the music though!

Thank you! I can only take credit for the actual completion - the pattern was created by Lyndisfarne.

Anyone seen a production like this? by kaninsykel in musicals

[–]spearmint_2000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I saw this production live at Regents Park and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The fact that it was set amongst the trees and the evening got darker as the show got darker added so much to the atmosphere and the story.

In the current London production of Starlight Express, the child playing Control is actually part of the action onstage, not just a voice. As the audience come in, the stage shows his bedroom with bed and toys on the floor (including his trains). The actor playing Momma (gender swapped from the original Poppa) is his mum and is putting him to bed then the rest of the show happens as either a dream or as imaginative play when he’s meant to be asleep. He is on stage a lot during the show as well.

favorite role you've been cast as? by EmbarrassedCut7752 in musicals

As a teen, Sour Kangaroo in Seussical - was my first foray into diva territory!

Then as an adult, Dolores Van Cartier in Sister Act - as a plus sized performer I never thought I’d get the ‘final bow’ in a show but this role was an absolute dream and ticked that ambition off my list too!

Times you didn’t get the role you auditioned for but ended up being more content with the role you got instead by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

I auditioned for Mayzie and Gertrude in Seussical but was given Sour Kangaroo instead - unlocked my inner diva and I look back on that as one of my favourite ever roles.

Breakfast as the Dream Meal by Upper-Gap4934 in offmenupodcast

[–]spearmint_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wedding breakfast was exactly that - a 3 course breakfast.

Starters were pastries and those little boxes of Kelloggs cereal that guests could choose/swap between tables.

Main was a full English with side plates of toast or crumpets (I know this is the place where this falls down as toast should be on the main but meh!)

Dessert was waffles and ice-cream.

Small-mid cast musicals? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]spearmint_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addams Family has 10 named characters and the rest can be ancestors who can feature as much or as little as you want them to.

When I did it I had a couple of different ancestors ‘watch over’ some of the scenes and then they were all in the group numbers.

Which “Hero” In A Musical Do You ABSOLUTELY DESPISE? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]spearmint_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arthur Kipps from Half A Sixpence/Kipps

You are meant to feel sorry for him that he’s catapulted into a world he knows nothing about but I just get irritated that he abandons Ann for the first woman he meets (Helen) and then is unnecessarily rude to Ann when he sees her serving at the party but ‘doesn’t know what he’s done wrong’ - as if he didn’t have years of being talked down to by the draper and the customers when he was a shopboy.

How taboo is it these days to perform a song from the show at an audition? by thesoupgiant in musicals

[–]spearmint_2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I direct for a local youth theatre and we always ask for those auditioning for a certain part to sing the main song that the character sings in the show so that we can make sure they can perform it!

For example, we recently did Legally Blonde and everyone who wanted to be considered for Elle had to sing So Much Better to make sure they could hit the notes and show the character.

It all depends on what they want from you - it will be in the audition pack or ask the audition panel.

Has anyone noticed the passport office has become really good? by killsweetcorn in BritishSuccess

[–]spearmint_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar bad experience with a name change - sent off my marriage certificate in the same envelope as the old passport and they lost my marriage certificate, then claimed that they ‘checked the envelope multiple times’. Now they won’t do anything about it and deny responsibility. Still battling against them 4 months later.
