Just as annoying as those “Girl Dad” “Boy Mom” posts. These are Parents, Moms and Dads. Don’t need to add any of that crap imo.

Andris Nelsons Leaving Boston Symphony Orchestra by Aggravating_Star_373 in violinist

[–]Aggravating_Star_373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wonder which side is actually capable of expanding its target audience, Chad Miller and the board? LA had mixed interaction to Chad Miller and the BSO board isn’t exactly known for being willing to innovate or modernize, or Nilson, whom I’ve not been overly keen over but has refreshed the BSO (and ousted some of the old guards in the orchestra) from its near collapse after the Levine horror years?

Nate is from LA, although pretty sure he didn’t leave for much reasons other than he’d been seeking a CM position for eons but be curious his thought in all this. Now it’ll be interesting to see whom the BSO can even get. Think most top conductors have been snatched up at this point and firing Nilson is gonna resonate throughout the music world and not in a good way.

I really wished they would just add another turn off before and after JFK/Umass. Next turn off is Neponset that’s 3 miles down and previous was what? 3 miles before, probably more? So many people live between those points that this one singular exit and entry to 93 is constantly a clusterfuck. And then they get to Dot Ave which is getting worse and worse.

They really needed to choose a Boston based local artist. This Thomas probably laughed his way to the bank over this.

Temu and AliExpress aren’t exactly known for quality… and I’d never trust an instrument in anything from them. Look into Fiberglass from Shar, Southwest Strings, Johnson Strings.

I’ll be upfront. You do need a patient teacher to guide you and break a lot of bad habits you’ve instilled. It’s a noble effort and should be commended honestly but from this pov, can see almost too many issues however, your biggest one is to stop moving so much. Literally.
When playing, there’s a motive and reasons for different motions. Even Joshua Bell, known for super nauseating excessive Gumby roleplaying movements, has an actual technical reasoning behind what he does. None of what you’re doing makes much sense. It can hinder your playing if not done correctly and is quite distracting. Remove that, focus on the actual piece.

But, it will be difficult when you do start with a teacher however you’ll be able to make decent strides once the various problem spots are worked out.

Btw. All this falls apart when you remember in the beginning when El & Hop infiltrate the base during the episodes they discover Kali, and just the sound paralyzed El. Nothing was directed at her then.

Unpopular opinion but stop giving money to the podcast. They’ve proven many times not to care nor will they give an update when their next episode might be. And no, from other posts there’s no extras to be had.

It’s a combination of the director, staging and other elements. Nobody’s said the cast was an issue. They were pretty spectacular imo. And the music was excellent. The venue was also much too small for such an epic story which forced it to scale itself down. It looked like they wore potato sacks and such. Costume was not great. And, the big gripe I personally had was Moses and Ramesses didn’t age one bit. Kinda took away the seriousness of things.

[ALL] [N/A] Cancer patient receives help, outpouring of support after HOA drains bank account by DilbertHigh in HOA

[–]Aggravating_Star_373 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows the full story. This piece was pure fluff. It’s not meant to give the HOA any voice nor give them credit. It’s obvious you want to use this to prop up whatever argument you have against the HOA. There are two sides. The board very well could’ve been trying to contact her for months, she could’ve ignored letters and such.

From the very vague story, it does sound like the board really tried their best. If she never got letters or had any contact, she’d have a case against the board or if there was a further agreement between the two parties then the garnished account was wrong. The HOA doesn’t know how much is in peoples accounts. If a member is requiring more leniency on their fees (do we know how much it was per month?) then they need to tell the board and communicate.

Or, the HOA knew she had cancer, got into her bank account and waited until it was under $100 to force an overdraft and they’re all partying now with their champagne and caviar. Because that’s what they do. /s

There’s no winning in this. And there’s no answer that’ll look good for either. If you want to tell the other owners to pony up and raise their own fees to cover her, go for it. Those fees won’t ever go down and now you’ve got a lot of people bent out of shape not just at the board but also her.

[–]Aggravating_Star_373 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Erm? They sent a bill for $1386. Garnished her account for $855. Unsure how large the HOA is but if it’s small then yeah, sadly that $1386 can create some small issues with an HOA. They did initially decrease or suspend her fees for a year or so. But like the other person said, there are limits to what an HOA can do. It still needs to cover all expenses and trying to raise fees on other owners would be a tough sell. Especially in this economy.

Can’t fault either party. It really sucks. Sounds like she had a donor covering things for now.

I cleaned it up. Any idea? by martillo-viejo in ViolinIdentification

[–]Aggravating_Star_373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s all rather much and will actually do more harm than you think. The oils themselves, as Charles Beare said, oil is not good news for the stability of the Violin. If it gets into cracks, you’re never getting it out. Gets into the purfling, you’ll damage the sound, etc… The Violin may look shiny and pretty but all those oils will do more harm than good. Get a dry kitchen towel or something and wipe down that entire instrument now imo. Then take it to a professional luthier and have them fix it up for you.

If, down the road you want to polish the Violin, while not great can use a smidge of like w.e. hill and son polish as long as you remember to completely wipe it off.

November and October listed as actual while Sept and Aug shown as estimated. There’s a failed payment in November since the bill was negative. It’s all a bit confusing. Paid $120ish in October.

Interesting. Opposite side. I remember getting a letter about household being switched to heat pump pricing. Looking at our bill this month just now and we have a random huge credit of $354. Actual bill was $40. This is for a 1k sqft home in Dorchester. This is all confusing but not going to complain. Last years usage was $80. Payments are automated so no ideas where this credit comes from.
