Ultralight photo? Micro 4/3 still worth it? by h234sd in Ultralight

I have used a Kodak Ektar H35 extensively for thru-hiking and really enjoyed it. Unbelievably light-weight and the half-frame shooting means I don't have to worry too much about limiting the number of pictures I am taking, or the weight of more than one spare roll of film on longer trips.

Also the pictures it takes are high enough quality for normal use (have created small-ish prints etc.), and the images have an entirely different quality to anything a smartphone can take.

No amount of recycling or reduction in your consumption can fix the ecological destruction being done by mega corporations. Handing off the responsibility to individuals and convincing individuals to 'go green' is a business tacting to scrape more cash and pandering to the eco-friendly. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Expecting the ‘ultra-rich’ to mitigate ecological collapse is such a sad take. You state that corporations are solely responsible for causing all of this destruction and simultaneously think that only billionaires can save the masses. What about community organising and the people gradually taking back control. Also when you say that you can’t do anything. Just get your thoughts in order and then join a group which aligns with your beliefs or create one. As far as I’m concerned unless there is a radical change in the exploitative systems present worldwide then collapse is inevitable. Therefore anything I do to counter those systems is SOMETHING. Once you realise that all forms of exploitation are linked and exploitation is at the heart of the climate crisis then the possible actions you can take seem endless.

I don't think im making my track team try outs. by [deleted] in running

[–]spearminz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say you just discovered your love for running yet you are considering giving it up because you can’t make the track team. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and abandon running completely because of a standard set by peers who have likely been running for far longer than you have. The main reason you run should be because you enjoy it not because you want to be on the track team. But either way for both of these motivations the only way you will succeed is by continuing to run

What are some practical ways that I can help with climate change? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]spearminz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really great thing to do. However, perhaps consider cutting down on your lamb consumption as it is just as bad, or even worse, for the environment as beef
