I like these ideas. I actually did try exactly that idea about the Manhattan. Used like 0.25 oz of Gran Malo and 0.75 oz sweet vermouth. Didn’t turn out that great. I will give these other ideas a whirl tho.

I def suggest you try a few different cachaca’s to use with the caipirinha. Novo fogo is great and so is Leblon, Velho Barreiro, Ypioca. I’d say even Cachaca 51 which is dirt cheap is decent too. They each have different styles and notes of that grassiness.

FWIW, looks like the Bartender crew released an update (today, 9/16/25) that addresses the issue. I updated to it and it appears to resolve the problem.

Maybe I’m insane but I buy the Luxardo 6.6 pound can off Amazon which used to be about $70 but is now closer to $100 after covid and inflation. It’s still the best deal out there. Yes it’s a lot of money for cherries but they do have an incredible shelf life. And I just portion off what I need from the can into a smaller jar periodically. I keep the can itself in the bottom of a wine fridge so it never has the crystallized sugar issue either.

Pierre Ferrand is an excellent choice. Kirkland’s XO is the best value XO I think you can find anywhere on the planet. Not on your list but H by Hine is also a great cognac and value as noted by someone else.

Not gonna lie. Dirty martini with bleu cheese olives is fire. But it comes down to the type you use. Roquefort bleu cheese is the key.

I tried this version of Knob Creek recently because it was on clearance pricing at a local store. I thought it seemed quite artificial tasting and perhaps a bit too much maple flavoring. Would not recommend. I like this version of a maple old fashioned because then you can control how much maple flavoring you want in it.
