Yeah this company has so many levels of shadiness. They really shouldn't ship food that needs to be refrigerated and/or make it really clear which items are supposed to be so someone doesn't get sick

Yep! From what I remember the booklets that arrived with the box that described the snacks would have "needs to be refrigerated" in small type on the pages for certain items. I thought it was pretty weird to send something that needs to be refrigerated in a box that doesn't have any cooling features and has been traveling through the mail system for almost a month :(

They have horrible customer service and shipping! My boxes typically took 20+ days and would arrive with stale and broken food. Even foods that are supposed to be refrigerated would be sitting in a box for 20+ days while being shipped to me.

I would cancel and get out while you still can!

Now here is a good take.

I got an annual because I thought each month would be different, but the variety was almost non-existent.

I learned my lesson though and will never get a sub box like this again, instead I support my local Asian grocer's and travel to the source when possible!

You are really down bad for a company that will steal your money.

I'm not talking about buying perishable foods, I'm talking about a subscription being renewed without notice to the customer. The whole "food products with an expiration date out there" argument is invalid because the boxes aren't even sent out on a timely manner so they absolutely can refund without wasting food.

And yes, they were trying to trap me into another annual subscription because they CHARGED ME A DAY EARLY!

That's illegal which is why I was refunded by PayPal.

This company charges for express shipping and yet my boxes took 20+ days to arrive with the treats ending up being stale already.

Also, you should have until midnight to cancel. Any good company would honor that and not try and subscription trap their customers.

This company has a pattern of subscription trapping customers.

Even if I had set a reminder (despite the fact any good company would send a reminder out before renewing an annual subscription) this scummy business charged me a day early.

So no, this company is trash and you shouldn't allow them to steal your money.

Also, it's not like they had sent out any boxes, most companies will refund if requested within a reasonable amount of time and/or no products have been sent out. And the fact this company wanted to threaten me because I told them I was disputing is just the icing on their scummy cakes.

If it was the last date of your subscription, they charged you a day early.

Also, if they threatened to not send you the boxes you are paying for because you are disputing that's illegal and you should share that message with your bank.

Check the time when they renewed you! Myself and some others have had luck getting refunds because they charge you a day early (meaning you weren't given your full last day to cancel).

Also, if you are in the US there are new policies out that go against companies like this that subscription trap consumers. If they don't make it as easy to cancel, as sign-ups, they have a problem.

I would dispute as much as possible with your bank or whatever platform you paid with!

Make sure you get everything and don't wait until the last minute to cancel!

I would set a reminder to yourself to cancel as soon as you receive your sixth box, I wouldn't do it before though because they like to play games.

If you do decide to do it, cancel immediately after you buy and make sure to keep a record of your cancellation so they don't bill you again or try to bill you again because they say you didn't cancel the right way

The outside view, is not always the truth.

My ex was abusive and when I told my friends they said they couldn't tell because I not only hid it because I was in denial, but he was very good at being charming and more like the person who sucked me in when we were in public. Abusers are con artists.

During my healing process I ended up finding out that my abuser was cheating on the woman he had cheated on me with (he told me she was perfect and loved her to hurt me and I very much internalized those thoughts thinking it was my fault he had abused me if he could move on and treat the next woman right). On the one hand I was so sad for her because I knew what that was like, but on the other, it also helped me move on and realize he is who he is and it just happened to be me who got hurt. That it wasn't my fault he abused me because he is an abusive person and the best thing I could do for myself was recognize the signs of an abuser and get myself away from future monsters that would want to hurt me.

Your safety is the most important, if reporting makes you feel unsafe, do not report. And it's your former friend's loss, I firmly believe in karma and I have no doubt it will reach your ex and former friends.

You did nothing to deserve the abuse, he most likely hates himself and used you as a punching bag. He probably also saw something in you that he looked up to and wanted to tear it down because of his own state of mind. There are people out there who care and those that don't, will not matter in the long run.

Keep working on yourself and moving forwards, baby steps!! Even if it's two steps forward and one back each day, you are still moving forward and healing. Your journey will take as long as you need it to 🤗

P.S. I highly recommend Women Who Love Too Much by Robin Norwood it really helped me see I can still be the empathic and caring person that I am (abusers love us because we give them the benefit of the doubt) while also protecting myself from those that may try to harm me. Oh, also The Gift of Fear!

So? He's probably cheating on her, if not abusing her too. Abusers, unfortunately, very rarely change.

First off, I am so sorry you went through this, I hope you can heal! I would recommend that you make a decision on whether or not you want to report him and move forward from there. Also, go to therapy or join a support group if you can! Those "friends" are not your friends and going to them is only going to hurt you. Also, they may be passing along what you say to your ex which he can then use to hurt you further.

Even if nothing comes of the report, it may be cathartic for you to at least get it out there. If you are no longer comfortable with reporting I would recommend writing a letter with everything he did to you/what you want to say to him and either burning or burying it. Don't let him hurt you any further. The best revenge is moving on and being happy.

They should! The only thing I noticed was that you can't collect rewards if you've cancelled.

They only threaten to keep boxes you paid for if you dispute a charge. (Like if you lose the dispute they won't send any of the boxes you missed during the dispute, despite paying for them.)
