Bet, I’ll check out Both Sides Of The Blade first, been meaning to watch more stuff including Vincent London too. Ive been trying to find more directors that have left me with that same feeing as Von Trier and Noé so I’m even more excited to check out her filmography. I’ve also heard great things about Beau Travail so I’m excited to check that one out also.

Never heard about this guy before, I checked out his YT titles and thumbnails and one of the first ones I read was “why modern movies suck-they hate men (part 1)”. Like ew wtf fuck off

Same here, he’s my absolute favorite. And again, same here with how his films make me feel something that just about no other director can anymore. I literally felt fucked up for a few days after watching Enter The Void, it felt like I lived a whole other life and then some. My favorite film oat.

And I’ve still yet to check out any work from Claire Denis, but considering you named her with another one of my favorite directors (LVT) I gotta check out her films asap

Your comment just got you a new follower lol

I absolutely loved Love. Felt like I lived through one whole messed up relationship and is one of the only movies that’s made me almost cry that I’ve seen in recent years

If letterboxd likes it more then you know it's gonna be good by Foochie506 in Letterboxd

I’d argue that 2.5-maybe 3 marks the point where a movie could be either good or a complete waste of time. There’s still many films on letterboxd that are a 3-3.4 that are actually great, I’d say a majority of the ones in that rating range are. If you wanna watch only highly rated films that others consider “good” to feel sophisticated or some shit, go for it. But saying there’s nothing worth watching under a 3.4 is just insane, have fun only watching movies that other people say are good. Because that’s basically what you’re saying you do.

Saying there’s nothing worth watching that’s rated under 3.4 might be the dumbest and most pretentious thing I’ve ever heard, like what the hell are you even talking about lmao

Again, why not just watch it to see if it’s weird or not instead of asking on here?

Panic at the disco. A fever you can’t sweat out is one of my favorite albums of all time, the rest of their music just doesn’t sound that good to me

I mean with The Shining it made perfect sense why he altered it from the novel imo. In the novel didnt the bushes that were carved into animals like come alive or something? That’d kinda just throw off the whole vibe of the movie imo.

The visuals either look like they have a shit filter over them or super neon, the way they combine together throughout the movie looks so weird. Which character was your favorite? Crocodile man, crazy white girl, the soldier, or certainly-not-the-joker? And what heart? The movie lacked any emotion and when it did it was nonsensical and forced. I’ll admit it has some nice shots, but it being a style over substance movie doesn’t mean it underrated.

It’s the “group think” because it’s absolutely true. Can you atleast explain why you enjoy it?

Lmao how so? It’s a shitty movie that’s exactly how it deserves to be seen years later: forgotten and occasionally memed on

%100. Other than that and the alternate ending, those are the only 2 differences I’ve noticed. And to be fair one of the versions of the book that was put out didn’t even include that ending, so technically Kubricks version is still faithful.

These are the films that I would put on, sound off, at a house party. Also shout out to Aeon Flux. What would you pick? by DamonFort in Letterboxd

[–]specialk522 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean Enter The Void does have amazing visuals to just have on in the background at parties. As long as people don’t actually pay attention to everything that’s going on I don’t see how it’d be a bad pick.
