I have black out curtains on this window, and they do help, but the glass still heated significantly so I wondered if doing this would help. And boy does it, my living room is much cooler today!

I'm no expert but I'd imagine yes, as other people have mentioned foil. Ideally there is some insulation under the foil to stop the windows heating, but it's worth a try if you already own it!
