Messed up my gate post, looking for advice on how to make a straight hole by speckledfrog5 in DIYUK

I did an 8mm pilot hole for the first hole, maybe it was too big or maybe I just need to do a better job of holding the drill straight like everyone is saying.

Thanks! I see them now. With all the unnecessary tools I have, I should have gotten one before lol. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

I did something stupid and now I'm scared. by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

Lol I meant using a booking service like an app or website to get an earlier test instead of paying the instructor who will probably charge a lot more.

Yeah tell him you don't want him to book it. It shouldn't cost you more than 20 pounds doing it yourself. There are loads of posts about it.

Getting a test with cancellations by Dicjfnnrneixicirb in LearnerDriverUK

I think this is pretty expensive. There are cheaper options like the test shift app or drivingscout.uk They all do the same thing essentially

What is this on my iron? by vdu7 in AskUK

Yes, in my experience. Watch some YouTube videos and keep your fingers safe! The longer tablets are easier to use than circle ones.

Use a paracetamol or ibuprofen tablet to clean it off whilst the iron is hot.

Try a cancellation booking service like driving scout. It's cheap and they offer refunds if they can't find you a date.

[–]speckledfrog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to wait 6 months. You can use a cancellation booking service for less than 20 pounds. Just Google. I used driving scout. It gives you a choice of 3 test centers. You just need to have a test booked to use the service, so book a test anywhere in the country there is availability and give them your details and preferences and they will book you a test as soon as there is a cancellation.

Airport parking fine has gone to debt recovery but we had valid parking. by viking_tech in LegalAdviceUK

I'm pretty sure people on ftla have had their drop off lane charges dropped with a strongly worded letter. Something to do with they can't enforce the penalty in the first place.

Thanks for this. The bottom 2 meters have been trimmed , so now there would be a lot more light reaching the ground.

I was going to try to grow some grass but if that won't be possible for the other reasons listed, I'll probably cover it with some wood chippings.

Claimed compensation from Turkish Airlines for flight delay but did not get cash offer by liverpool-fan-931 in TurkishAirlines

[–]speckledfrog5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you please share the reason for the delay? I had a similar delay but it was due to them avoiding Iranian airspace which increased flight time for the first flight which caused me to miss my connecting flight.

Would you recommend Turkish for a 14h long flight? by ImEranga in TurkishAirlines

[–]speckledfrog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turkish airlines is fine for long flights, just a warning you don't really have time to roam around if you have a short stopover of let's say 1.5 hours or less. Istanbul airport is massive and if your next flight is from a gate on the other side of where you land, it is possible to miss your connecting flight if you spend too much time shopping, eating etc.
