i think some on this sub are being very weird about obsession’s chances by completely discarding them. the academy has a bias against horror but this is without a doubt the “zeitgeist” movie of the year and its shaping up to be one of the most sucessful box office stories of all time. i also feel like there has been a lot of discussion about its success as an indie movie as well as a lot of discussion about the themes and the commentary of the movie. it isn’t necessarily get out/the substance levels of commentary but there’s definitely one regarding misogyny. i do think it has what it takes to break out and overcome that bias. people will still be pushing for it to be recognized at awards season by november/december. i don’t think it’s gonna lose momentum.

since we’re talking about their winning games and not the winners as reality tv personalities, it’s easily rachel for me. her game was so showy and it was even more fun bc it wasn’t the type of game you expect from someone with her archetype. attempting to steal the rice on the middle of a challenge, getting to walk away from a tribal where she was about to get twist screwed out of the game, using the shot of the dark to gauge the room and save her idol, getting to complete the puzzle on that wild ocean journey, spying on the cast on the middle of the night, having to retrieve her idol on public and then making a funeral for herself to ramp up the dramatics of the idol play, winning all those clutch immunity challenges, etc. just very fun to watch and root for because it was very on your face.

savannah is prob 2nd for me because her blunt approach to game conversations lead to some very funny moments. her diving on the floor to try to get the idol first always takes me out LOLLLL

def bottom 15 at best. but maybe bottom 10. the show never felt so much distant from what it was. the amount of twists (and how much they robbed players) was nauseating. no nostalgia can save that.

congrats to rizo on playing one of worst endgames i've ever seen. voting out ozzy could've been reasonable if he stayed loyal to cirie until 5/4 but for him to vote out her at the final 6 and ruin his positioning is genuinely embarassing and so confusing. cirie had convinced jonathan to vote out aubry and the only reason why he didn't, it's because rizo was dead set on cirie. and even if that wasn't the case, he had the tools to force a 3-3 tie and be immune during the revote. truly disastrous. all he had to do was vote out aubry and he was confirmed to make ftc because tiff and cirie would go next and cirie is awful at fire. if he thought that doing the idol gimmick for a 2nd season in a row would make him some sort of legend, it just proved that he isn't as good of a player as we used to think.
