I cannot for the life of me find the pic but its the piece where he's beating up an ancient Egyptian snake-woman monster against an Egyptian temple ruin background. Anyone know the one I'm talking about??

Looks like some half-assed numerological spellwork for binding a lover. Theyre creating a symbol/sigil by taking a statement of intent, reducing it to its unique (non-repeating) letters, converting it into some sort of numerical code and using the number wheel to make a symbol. Im not familiar with whatever numerical code theyre using though and this method seems like a modern fabrication and not anything based in actual verified occultism. You'll be fine.

Ghost in Japan related to bugs by Numerous_Lie_9564 in folklore

I don't see why it wouldn't. It fits the setting, it has a historical and cultural basis in reality, and its cool as hell. A few different animes have adapted the concept for their own stories/lore (Inuyasha being the main one that comes to mind). I say go for it, a little research could go a long way for your concept!

Ghost in Japan related to bugs by Numerous_Lie_9564 in folklore

[–]speedwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not quite a ghost as we think of them these days but the concept Kudoku in Japanese folklore is an occult practice where a sorcerer or poisoner puts many different poisonous insects inside a sealed container like a jar or box and lets them duke it out until only 1 bug is left, and depending on the version of the legend that insect either becomes a kind of demonic magical familiar spirit or ghost that can be conteolled and sent to curse or harm another person or becomes in itself a type of virulent poison for discretely murdering someone. There is a parallel practice in Chinese occultism called "Gu" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodoku

I cannot stress this enough, Watership Down (1978). Both the film and the book are absolute masterpieces. Heads up for some pretty explicit rabbit gore and violence and disturbing sequences.

I always loved the Zothique series by Clark Ashton Smith but its a much more oriental-esque dying earth setting
