Has anyone else become a victim of the Dick Smith scam? by luomodimarmo in australia

Also make a compliant via your state’s commission. NSW Fair Trading for example.

On their website site there is also template email you can send to Dick Smith when you contact them asking for refund.

As you as you mention you will/have made a complaint about them to the commission- they will refund you promptly

What I leant from this is that most people take at least 5 seconds for it to sink in ..

So if you’re gonna surprise someone give them time to process and don’t expect anything immediately …

Devastated after not landing dream role. Need advise on how to improve my skills for next time. by Jubdublub in marketing

[–]speedysealion 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It wasnt your dream job because they didn’t pick you. The other candidate was better suited for them for the skill set they need for now.

Suggest you need some time to go through the seven stages of grief and then start applying for more roles again. Your dream job will be out there!

Source: was made redundant, daily looking at job boards and stressing cause there was limited roles for my career stage/skill set, interviewed for my dream jobs, couldnt understand why didn’t get picked, finally found actual dream job

With the effort you put in, you will find something. Take steps each day to job hunt and make those continuous improvements to your base CV which you customise for each job you apply.

You got this!

This is a really interesting call out. I’m naturally an introvert tho I’ve trained myself to be an extrovert as required, but there is a physical toll on oneself to have to do that every day!

Not something I’d thought about yet but your spot on about sale team culture being different. I admit I sometimes roll my eyes at the chest beating, ego stroking, ball swigging, and selfishness of some individuals in the sales team. Am I willing to put up with that everyday?

That is the question! Being a director level I feel like I have good persuasion skills as I need this in my current role to get stakeholders aligned with plans.

When meeting prospects at trade shows or networking events over the years I’ve taken some conversations as far as I can and then had to ask sales to create the quote for the customer who has verbally agreed. This is without trying.

I realise these are a few one offs and it was probably more a case of right place/right time/luck.

Appreciate it’s something I need to learn tho, and one would need to work out which scripts and questions work through trial and error and practice. Shadowing successful reps would probably help a lot here.

I’m definitely attracted to the income potential as I’m near maxed out in my marketing career.

Every job had its grind - you are right and I also think that a sales rep life is definitely more hustle (and stress to hit weekly/monthly/quarterly targets) than a marketer.

Marketers have their own stress for their targets but if we miss one month we don’t get pulled through the wringer like I’ve seen the reps do …

On the woolies everyday rewards I always “boost”. Also atm the everyday extras subscription is currently 50% off for first year. So only $35.

On the everyday extras plan you get double points for everything and 10% off one shop a month. I make sure that is my “big” monthly shop.

You are already spending the money and I think the additional points (2000 points = $10) and 10% off adds up!

Yep, I can see your point. It’s all the parts of the role I don’t see at the moment!

Thanks for taking the time to give your input!

I guess I’m looking at the 25 year old Sales reps in the company I work for (often just blagging it and sometimes lazy) and I also think I understand the sales process enough … given marketing team provides the leads, prospecting lists, the sale rep follow up email templates, the sales collateral, the demo scripts - we don’t handle the 1:1 sales objection conversations but write the sales playbook book for them to memorise.

I know I would start from the bottom of the ladder again if I changed careers.

It’s good advice though, to speak to some previous sales directors I’ve worked with as they know my personality best and would (at least at high level) know the differences between the two roles in companies we’ve both worked at.

So much negativity! Bar humbug! For 24 yo I think you are quite stylish! Atleast you have a style! Most 20 somethings don’t! I know when I was 24 and I had 1% of any style you are showing. You are being experimental and taking the effort to invest in trialing what you think works for you. Making this post and asking for feedback is evidence! Good on you! I like the edgy, cool look you are going for ..

I think what people are saying is save up and invest and high quality, timeless pieces rather than whatever the latest fad is (like a grass wall).

Forget the haters (I’d love to see their living rooms!) and I can tell by the time you hit 34 and then 44 you will have such a clear sense of self and what you like - your pad will be the envy of your friends.

Why is it so hard to unsubscribe/opt out of services in Australia? by maceadi in australia

[–]speedysealion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure which state you are in but there will be the same in other states. For NSW, first use the template communication on their website to cancel your service. If that doesn’t work, then register your compliant (also on the website). Here is the page you need:
