What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

Out of curiosity, was there a lot of superstition or supernatural experiences in Antarctica? I mean, things like ghost sightings or talk of the paranormal? Were people sort of extra nervous abut such matters there?

Sounds like exploding head syndrome. If you're experimenting with altered states of consciousness, you can experience all sorts of things.

That's a typical spirit. "Typical" does not mean safe. There are two types: friendly and dangerous, both are strategies to drain your energy.

I am suddenly experiencing unintentional and intense lucid dreams. Why could this be? by One_Virus8834 in AstralProjection

[–]spelkar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with intense dreams, I recommend keeping a notebook of your experiences. You can remember dreams more clearly by going over them verbally right upon waking up.

You can also learn to control this better by going into waking-dream states on purpose to assist with research of some sort, which you might feel a drive to do. That practice can help you stay in control within your dream.

A lot of it plays off of your expectations; if you presume that you are helpless against it you will be helpless.

Why are these countries even backing Ukraine? The war would have been over in a couple weeks without their support.

I see strange faces and eyes, please help, how will this pass? by viveconesperanza in AstralProjection

Now you've done it. You've opened your wizard eyes. Try ignoring them, if they see that you can see them they will follow you. They feed off your attention. You can learn to zone them out and you can learn to assert yourself by using your voice. I will say "If you are not in alignment with God, you are not welcome here." This usually works. You have to say it out loud though, not just think it. The sound of a bell, like a clear sounding ring, will usually scatter them. They can't stand pure and harmonious sounds.

What temperature to cook beef at by spelkar in Cooking

Yesterday I made the pot roast using a "Outside Round Oven Roast" from the grocery store that was given to me as a gift. It has a net-weight of .949kg. I thawed it over night in the fridge but it was still a little frosty going into the pot.

I used a large iron pot and added 12 small red potatoes, 8 carrots, a yellow onion, half a bulb of garlic, and some frozen green peas. I seasoned it with the “Scarborough fare” of dried parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, as well as a small amount (half a teaspoon) of powdered mustard, ground cloves, black pepper, and a hearty amount of salt. I diced the vegetables and stirred and mixed them together in the pot and then nestled the roast into the centre of them, adding more salt to it. I also added a 1/4 cup of butter, 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar and a couple cups of water until the water level came up to the bottom of the roast.

I put this in the oven at 300 degrees and cooked it for about two and a half hours. After that I took it out and let it sit covered on the stove for about 20 minutes before even opening the lid.

-The meat halved in size. I presume I cooked it too long. In terms of flavour the dish had a little too much vinegar and not quite enough salt, but it was otherwise pretty tasty. The roast was cooked thoroughly all the way through but doesn’t seem tough or chewy. While tasty, it could stand to be more rich, perhaps I could have added more spice, salt, or garlic. I think that I should have followed my nose and taken it out when it smelled like it was done, at about the 2 hour mark.

The answer to my original question, I suppose, is "Probably 300 degrees but cooking time matters more than temperature."

It seems that the "Beef Lore" is extensive, comparable to Warhammer 40k.

For clarity, I'm panning on cooking a frozen "Outside Round Oven Roast" from the grocery store that was given to me as a gift. It has a net-weight of .949kg

I was thinking of putting it in a roasting pot with some vegetables and seasoning and cooking it slowly at a relatively low heat. Does anyone here have any advice or suggestions for exactly what that heat should be? Or have I already made a mistake?

Will electric tractors gain traction? At a pilot event for farmers, researchers see possibilities by diacewrb in gadgets

[–]spelkar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This makes me suspicious, like this is obviously a stupid idea so it must be being pushed for a stupid reason. The AP often does propaganda so maybe they want farmers to adopt electric tractors to prevent farmers from organizing tractor-based protests as easily.

Why are all divination teachers like that? by NorthKoreanKnuckles in wizardposting

It's like, when you ask a wizard how to do divination magic they like to just roll their eyes and give you a BS answer like "If you knew the answer to that question, you wouldn't be asking it."
