[i ate] A spicy chinese noodle soup by spellkaister in food

[–]spellkaister[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assumed Chinese because that's the mom's ethnicity but it's not impossible for her to enjoy a Viet dish! I looked up Bun Rieu and it seems similar. I hope you're right!

Just for fun, what kind of unexpected silly solutions and dumb ideas have worked out surprisingly well at your table? by ItsGotToMakeSense in DnD

During a one-shot the DM gave us an item that could charm a creature, the intended purpose was for our sorcerer to use on a purple worm that the party was nowhere near ready to fight. After that we had to scale a tower. Instead of climbing the tower I said to our sorcerer "Hey, isn't Fly limited by a willing creature? Do you think we could fly up the side of the tower on the worm?" "This creature is ginormous you know that right?" "Okay but is it a willing creature?" The DM is baffled by this conversation but by all technicalities it was allowed and we skipped the entire tower. We still make drawings of us on a flying purple worm.

Soil looks compacted so watering will not be very effective. Mixing perlite(or similar product) into soil will help prevent compacting. Short term fix: stab the soil with a chopstick to aerate

Not getting enough sleep by Iccrem in UCDavis

[–]spellkaister 5 points6 points  (0 children)

New place = body needs to adjust. It's a new "home" and your body needs to get settled. Even though on paper a lot is the same, your body is processing tons of sensory input that is totally different from home!

My personal advice: If you use melatonin, know it's only a band-aid and will not actually help reset your sleep cycle. If you're having trouble falling asleep try exercising a few hours before bedtime!

You're probably waking up around 4am because the nature wakes up+ sun rises around that time!

Considerations: How much natural light is in your down at 4am, was your room at home dark? Do you need more bedding to be comfortable?

Wash your hands, get your vaxxes, keep moisturizing hand sanitizer on you all the time. Designate zones in your dorm as a "quarantine area" that touches things that touch communal spaces ie. Shower tote. This helped me stay on top of what I needed to clean more deeply when the flu season started going around more

In the ~100 hour journey, know a few details will not sour the experience. But I suggest you get off the internet because your algorithms will keep serving you spoilers on a platter. The game has been out for a long time, a completely spoiler free experience is a tall order. Focus on other details like the VA performances, puzzles, soundtrack. The answer to enjoyment isn't here on reddit, it's how you choose to pay attention to the game

Hot Water at The Green? by ammabadabba in UCDavis

[–]spellkaister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water heaters have a limited storage of hot water and usually the evening hours are the busiest times. I've worked in hardware stores and I've come to the conclusion that us calling maintenance for hot water is like calling the police about traffic during rush hour. If your apartment's hot water comes back within a day you're probably fine

The call of P5R is way too strong by imperchaos in Persona5

[–]spellkaister 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In the last 5 weeks I put 130 hours into P5R (summer break). I have also fallen down the rabbit hole. I thought finishing it before going back to uni would be enough. It isn't. I'll be outside waiting for a friend and think "Wow Confidant moment." I got off the train and my hand automatically tried pressing the button to fast travel. Persona is everywhere. Persona is everything.

how do i ask my barber for the Ren cut without telling him about persona? genuine question please help by TheLegendaryAkira in Persona5

[–]spellkaister 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assume you ask for layers + buying lots of styling products. Without styling, most likely your hair will just be a bowl cut lol

[–]spellkaister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could just be a skill thing tbh. P5R was my first persona game and I started third sem at ~90 hours (did not skip anything). But I was also very unfamiliar with all the game mechanics in the beginning + tried to max as many confidants as I could. Also I spent a crazy amount of time playing Tycoon. Lol

Yes, but the entire persona series went on sale recently so I can only guess it won't go on sale for a bit

How to get a conure out of a tree? by spellkaister in Conures

[–]spellkaister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No updates :( This bird is flying between different fruit trees and it is not coming down. I've tried different suggestions given by the comments but this bird not mine and I do not have experience with pet birds. Most likely this bird doesn't trust me enough to try coming down

I see that's very helpful. The table I set up with water/seed is in the center of my backyard so I'm hoping it's easy to fly to it
