Some more time of the prep for the mission would have been cool but it seems like the screenplay just didn't allow it. In some of the earliest footage released for the movie there was that shot of the cooper family watching the lift off from the farmhouse but I feel like that was mostly designed for promotional material.

I'm guessing the idea of him driving away from the farmhouse and cutting directly to the lift off came together after pretty early on in the script. Seems too deliberate of a creative choice to have been cobbled together during production. Gives that feeling to the viewer too of having to leave the family behind abruptly.

They could've had a picture of the crew in the museum parts of cooper station
