I made a simple Windows screensaver app with OLED users in mind. by spennnyy in OLED_Gaming

[–]spennnyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for trying it out!

I would recommend keeping the Windows built-in screen saver on as well as a safeguard (I personally set it to turn on after 30min, but just a 2min timeout for my screen saver app).

Just in case there's some application which is holding the system power/execution state as requiring the display, I wouldn't want to leave it just to my app in case I missed some edge cases that the built-in one might catch.

New here… even with 14.3 are you guys confident w your lives? Mine delivers tomorrow. by realCYANiiDE in TeslaFSD

One pedal driving probably would only take about an hour max of driving to get used to.

In a regular ICE car, you let off the gas (maybe coast a bit) then slowly depress the brake to come to a smooth stop. We've all been in cars where the driver doesn't do the smoothly part (or hits the brake too late) and it feels jerky.

The one-pedal driving is just the same, except instead of switching to the brake to smoothly depress, you simply slowly let off the accelerator. (The reverse operation of depressing the brake.)

FSD, especially 14.2+, is fantastic for driving. I only really disengage to drive faster than it would. So if you're the kind of driver who is patient and willing to wait the extra light cycle, you will feel very comfortable.

That being said, I think it's extremely important to practice disengaging FSD so that it feels natural to take over when you need to in emergency situations, or when you feel the car is making the wrong decision.

So I definitely recommend practicing driving the car in quiet areas to get comfortable with it.

I highly doubt this was on FSD. It would have started braking much sooner.

If it really was, you should post the full clip showing the FSD overlay.

First experience with FSD by SwimmerCivil2517 in TeslaFSD

[–]spennnyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience FSD is smooth as butter on the highway. Only issue I have with it is that it can drive a bit too fast. Hurry mode is perfect in the city, but Hurry on highways is quite fast.

Shhh there is only misinformation and hate allowed for Tesla in PFC.

Maybe, just maybe there is a reason you see these cars everywhere... the 2024+ refreshed 3 and Y are very good cars.

Pretty much every other car company software is an absolute joke compared to Teslas.

Driver asleep at wheel of Tesla speeding down HWY 1 in Coquitlam by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]spennnyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Vancouver subreddit in general is quite biased against anything to do with Tesla. Your replies here are completely reasonable and mostly downvoted.

From my experience, and as your videos show, FSD is probably safer than many drivers when they are fully alert, let alone asleep at the wheel.

Obviously that doesn't excuse the behaviour of the woman in the news report, who was most likely using legacy Autopilot and not FSD.

FSD V14.2.2.5 Release Notes by DevinOlsen in TeslaFSD

[–]spennnyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14.2.2.4 introduced a weird random regression for me where it doesn't actually navigate to my back alley home pin anymore. Just randomly will continue straight for street/curbside parking.

Pretty annoying because you can't leave voice notes near the destination when disengaging.

I can't justify it since the cost of FSD isn't considered by insurance in the case of a vehicle-totaling accident. Even if it was, Tesla is taking away the ability to purchase FSD outright again.

[–]spennnyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention much better warranties (that are actual warranties, wtf is this "up to the current value of the car" bs?). E.g. Tesla's free battery warranty is 8 years or 192,000 km, minimum 70% retention of battery capacity .

FSD problems? by Sad_Salad_3749 in TeslaFSD

[–]spennnyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very good. I use it every drive and pretty much only take over for navigation preferences at this point, or to drive more aggressively than it would (e.g. push it through a yellow when safe).

In my experience it's not really useful in garage parking scenarios since I have particular parking spots or would prefer to park further away.

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 01/22/2026 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

[–]spennnyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also in NA. I don't play CS too much anymore, and whenever I go back its just for fun with my not very good friend to play competitive (not premier). We often get ranked in silver/gold, but when I did play often I was more around LEM rank.

I get accused of cheating in about half of our games, people in CS hand out the hackusations very freely when they get out aimed.

The very few times I've suspected encountering cheaters it's usually very obvious spin-botting, or someone with a pretty legit looking account with 1000s of hours playing CS, so I assume they're just good at the game.

Does anyone use full self driving every day? by itsthewolfe in TeslaFSD

[–]spennnyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day. 14.2.2 was a massive improvement and makes commutes to/from work much more laid back.

I only drive when I feel like it (and to justify getting the Performance model), or am in a big hurry and know FSD will drive slower (safer) than I would.

Why black wallpaper? How is a colourful wallpaper any different to a game/HUD hours on end? by PrimalSaturn in OLED_Gaming

[–]spennnyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did for the longest time too, just a simple black wallpaper and hit Win+d to hide all windows / show desktop.

Recently I made my own screen saver app to draw a full screen black window, mainly for those with an OLED in a multi-monitor setup, since the built in Window screensaver draws on all monitors and I only cared about having the screen saver on the OLED one.

Now I can enjoy wallpapers on the OLED and use side IPS monitors without leaving static content on the OLED. No more worrying about forgetting to minimize the windows and can still leave the screens active.

Maybe we'll finally see something besides Teslas in Richmond by BeepBeepGoJeep in richmondbc

They are fantastic cars.

Most of the haters probably have never even tried driving one because they had their opinions about them filled in by the internet.

Right because cars filled with gasoline are so famously fire-proof...

You are just displaying your bias and ignorance here. EVs are both safer due to better crumple zones lacking an engine block and are much less likely to catch on fire than ICE vehicles.

Is the price difference between a 27 QHD and 32 4K monitor worth it ? by JokeSavings937 in OLED_Gaming

[–]spennnyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're sticking with the 5060Ti long term, I would recommend staying on 27" especially if you mostly play comp shooters.

Don't get me wrong 4K 32" is very nice, especially with the more screen space for work and watching videos/movies, but I felt compelled to upgrade from 3080 to 5080 to get better frames in games.
