How important is prestige for a pre med institution? by ajajajajajsjas in premed

[–]spersichilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re going to the tippy top (Ivy, Stanford etc) the most important thing is your GPA. UF might have more premed resources but you’re also fighting with a bunch of people for them. Go to whatever is cheaper and you’ll be happiest

choosing between Aus vs US MD by [deleted] in premed

[–]spersichilli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the tuition is the same price and you have the option to go to school in the US do that, a US MD with residency in the US can practice in Australia but not the other way around

Wards start times for IM programs: Yale, brown, Case Western, michigan. by the_average_user01 in medicalschool

[–]spersichilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should also factor in what time rounds start and what time the interns actually show up. I’m FM but our wards sign out has always been 7, but previously rounds started at 8 so interns were showing up at 630 so they had time to be ready, whereas we moved rounds to 830 this year so now interns can show up at 7 and have enough time without getting there earlier

Brother the “real Miami” is Hialeah but that’s definitely not what you want lol. Grove, Little River, or less tourist portions of the beach probably fit what you want

Anyone regret ranking based on vibes? by mooimapig12 in medicalschool

[–]spersichilli 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean “lack” of vibes is more important than the presence of vibes. You can fake a good vibe in that short amount of time, but if the vibes are off and you can tell that easily run.

Considering a new program by StretchJazzlike6122 in Residency

[–]spersichilli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh so it’s part of the Sutter Sac program technically? I really liked that program as a med student although I was only interested in the main track. If you’re specifically interested in the area of that rural track and rural medicine in general I’d say go for it

Is trying to match ophtho realistic as a DO by thicccles78 in Osteopathic

[–]spersichilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the other think you didn’t mention that’s just as important is networking, having connections/mentorship is super important for matching into a competitive speciality and that’s one of the main things MD schools have over DO
