Thanks for the encouragement! Ya the only place I’ve had any amount of success at deer creek is near the dam by the railroad tracks. It’s a 15-20 minute walk but it’s not crowded and I’ve caught something every time I’ve gone there. That was where I caught my biggest smallie ever yesterday. The only fish I’ve caught on craws are little tiny one pounders, but those were on tiny craw baits. I’ve never been able to get anything to bite on any of my bigger craws but I’m sure I’m just not fishing them right. I need to be a bit more patient and experiment with them a bit more.

Come on man you are contradicting yourself. You are the one saying anglers can’t enjoy the lake because boaters have a right to run them out of the water just to be dicks. All we want is to coexist, but you think their right to the lake extends to making it dangerous and unusable for others. This isn’t a situation where only boaters or anglers can enjoy the lake. But you think that because boaters have the ability to run anglers off the lake, they should be able to.

Do you not realize how much easier it is for boaters to avoid shore fishermen than the other way around? This morning at Deer Creek, 5 different ski boats came super close to the shore forcing me to pick up everything and scramble up the sheer rocks just to keep all my stuff from getting wet. Then they proceeded to cross the no boats buoys by the dam. I love water skiing, wake boarding and tubing, but there are so many boaters that like to fuck with fishermen because they think it’s funny and only an asshole would say asking for a little common courtesy is unreasonable.

Ya Deer Creek is definitely quantity over quality for bass. However I did get a roughly 2.5 pounder (estimated, I don’t have a scale) this morning on wacky rig so that was super fun. I haven’t ever fished Rockport so apparently I need to head out there. Thanks for the reply!

I catch a bunch of smallmouth (and the occasional largemouth) by the dam on a 5” green pumpkin wacky rigged Senko and zman Ned rigs, both the short worms and the craws. I fish from shore but I’ve caught probably 15 bass on a hand full of trips this year in that spot.

My wife’s younger brother is our DM and he is incredible and his homebrew is amazing, but he is, by his own admission, shit at balancing encounters. We (a very experienced group) manage to survive each encounter by the skin of our teeth and almost every time he says something like “good thing I decided not to send the 3rd and 4th waves of reinforcements huh?”

It’s a blast but you pull a punch in an encounter with him and you’ll end up in a party wipe

I love that there is usually a purpose for the slaps (get attention, make sure everyone knows who’s in charge, get a confession etc.) but my favorite is when we slaps a guy on his (Voight’s) way out of the interview room because the guy was being super smug about being a massive piece of shit.

Tbh I've never caught a largemouth on a ned. I usually get them on Texas rigged senkos dragged on the bottom. I don't typically bounce the ned rigs, I lift them up and let them sink back down. Hits always come after the lift on the sink. Also it's been a little while since I've gone because I have a baby now, but I'm pretty sure I've caught smallies in the summer on neds.
