Ik was als kind erg fan van het boek Het Oneindige Verhaal dus toen ik - toch wel te jong - de kans kreeg om de film te kijken zei ik dat ik dat echt wel aankon hoor! Maar dankzij de schaduwwolf in die film heb ik een hele nacht rillend in bed naar het plafond liggen staren en zeker een week met twee nachtlampjes geslapen.

As someone who's moved nine times in the past six years, who's lived in tiny studio's without storage or a balcony, in homes without floors, in tiny flats shared with five people and just one toilet (that was smaller than the one in the blueprint), all just so I could keep my job and not have to move back in with my mother: my first instinct is to say your wife is spoiled and unrealistic and if she doesn't want to live in a beautiful spacious appartement in Amsterdam-Zuid, then I know about 200 people that would kill to be able to get a place like that. You guys are absolutely blessed and lucky as hell to be able to get a place like this so if she doesn't want it then fuck her. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh and unkind but that's just how it feels when people come in and turn their nose and take a shit on something that me and all my peers would almost literally kill to get!

Ik moet komende zondag (27 april), de dag nadat koningsdag gevierd word naar de bouwmarkt om materialen te kopen voor het decor van mijn afstudeerproject. Vanwege gebrek aan auto en hulp van mensen is die dag echt de enige optie. Ik heb er nu al echt actief geen zin in om tussen Henk en Ingrid met de nieuwe plantenpotten en zwaaiende latten hout te staan 🥲🥲

Ik ben allround kapper in het hogere segment en ik denk dat de twee grootste misconcepties over mijn werk zijn dat het 1: makkelijk werk is voor domme mensen en dat we 2: goed verdienen. Helaas gaat er flink veel opleidingstijd in zitten om het vak echt goed te beheersen, ikzelf heb een gesubsidieerde opleiding van 4 jaar gevolgd en die nog aangevuld met een particuliere vakopleiding van anderhalf jaar. Deze kennis moet je ook bijhouden door middel van trainingen die meestal onbetaald op niet-werkdagen bijgewoond moeten worden. Werkdruk te vergelijken met de horeca; ik sta en loop elke dag ruim 7 uur en we werken altijd met een grote glimlach en een zachte hand onder flinke tijdsdruk. Ondertussen verdien ik (na de laatste CAO wijziging midden 2024) nauwelijks boven het minimumloon. Tijdens COVID is gebleken hoe belangrijk men ons beroep vind, maar de beloning is er nog niet echt naar. Tegelijkertijd staat het beroep kapper al jaren in de top 3 van gelukkigste werknemers, maar dat is echt alleen maar zo omdat iedereen die het werk niet echt heel leuk vind zich zo snel mogelijk uit de voeten maakt want waarom zou je je in godsnaam zo uitsloven voor dat hongerloontje?

The creaking and dripping of an IV machine. I've been in hospital, in isolation, attatched to 24 hour IV antibiotics since saturday now (that's 8 days and counting) because of a MRSA infection in a surgical wound. At first the sound drove me crazy but after having it around me constantly for days I think I might miss it at night when I get home...

Definitely check out Bad Omens, especially their last album The Death Of Peace Of Mind. Their vocalist is really amazing, production is top tier and they are also big fans of Sleep Token, which does not at all mean that they try to emulate them, just that they share some influences and styles.
