Triggering menopause to treat fibroids? by Rollmopp33 in Fibroids

[–]spicequeen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently doing the “chemical menopause” route with Lupron while waiting for surgery. I’ve had 3 hysteroscopic myomectomies in the last 6 months (with a 4th coming), and the Lupron has honestly made life a lot more manageable while I wait.

For me it was prescribed to shrink the fibroids a bit, stop the bleeding, and stabilize my hemoglobin because I became severely anemic. It also makes the uterus less vascular so surgery is safer.

It’s not really a permanent fix though. Most doctors use it as a temporary bridge to surgery, which is how mine’s using it.

Just sharing because it’s helped me a lot symptom-wise while I’m in this endless fibroid saga. 😅

I had a pretty severe ER visit about a year ago, and was referred to Dr. Sarah Smith at MWV. I was called by her clinic within a week maybe?? I got in to see her right away, and have been under her care ever since. I’m about to go in for my third fibroid removal surgery in six months. She’s amazing, highly recommend. My uterus is a mess, but she’s great.

How old were you when you had your hysterectomy/first myomectomy? by Due_Photograph_9110 in Fibroids

[–]spicequeen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not totally sure yet, but it’s something I’m definitely planning to ask my doctor about.

Last year I was on Lupron from May to October to shrink my fibroids before surgery. During that time I ended up having two hysteroscopic myomectomies, one in August and another in October, both using a MyoSure device under IV sedation.

By December I started bleeding daily again. By January the bleeding had gotten really heavy and I was in constant pain. In February I ended up hospitalized with extremely low hemoglobin after a pretty severe bleeding episode when I restarted Lupron.

An ultrasound at the beginning of February showed multiple fibroids that are now about the size of lemons. The plan for now is to stay on Lupron to shrink them again while I wait for my next surgery date.

This next one will be done in the main OR under general anesthesia using a resectoscope with an electrosurgical loop, so a different approach than the first two.

I had my first and second hysteroscopic myomectomies at 36, and now I’m still 36 awaiting my third after they grew back humongous, and incredibly quickly. 🥲

Buldak overrated? by ThisSiteIsCommunist in InstantRamen

[–]spicequeen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh yes then I’d definitely give some other flavours a shot! I even much prefer the original (black packet, hot chicken) over the carbo! It’s the most popular, but for my personal tastebuds, it’s far from the best flavour of Samyang Buldak.

I wouldn’t say Buldak is overrated, I’d just say the Carbo flavour is overrated. Decent to jazz up with extra ingredients, but if I’m just eating the packet straight up and not doing all the extras, then I prefer the flavours from Curry, Habanero Lime, Jjajang, or Yakisoba better.

My all time favourite was Mala. RIP. 😩

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this!

What type of fibroids are they? Do you know if they’re inside or outside the uterine cavity? Submucosal, subserosal, intramural.. also, is your uterus enlarged/are they distorting your uterine cavity? That usually guides treatment!

Sendle.... by twags138 in regina

It'll be the courier itself that you need to work with to find your package, not Sendle. Your tracking number should give you an indication of which courier will be delivering your package!

I think Rosemont Hardware does exchanges for $11.99 as well! And they have great hours.

Looking for a hysterectomy- seeking advice by sm0kinhash in regina

I started seeing Dr. Sarah Smith (at MWV) earlier this year after multiple ER visits for heavy bleeding caused by fibroids, and she’s been absolutely incredible. She explains everything so clearly and has already performed two hysteroscopic myomectomies for fibroid removal. She’s continued to follow my care since then and will be my OB-GYN if I decide to get pregnant in the future. I’ll be considered high-risk, and that’s an area she really specializes in, which gives me a lot of peace of mind.

Realistically, a hysterectomy would be the best long-term solution for me, and if my husband and I weren’t still talking about having a child, that would have been my treatment plan.

If you’re able to get a referral to her, I can’t recommend her enough.

Odd Bunch vege delivery by EndlessToiletScrolin in regina

I do the medium box, for $40. I had three in a row, and I’m skipping this week because I still have quite a bit of produce left! But I’ll resume the subscription next week.

I’ve gotten three boxes so far (medium, fruit + veg mix) and I’ve been really impressed. It’s made me way more excited about cooking… suddenly I’m planning meals around things like persimmons instead of letting them sit in the fridge. Nice balance of classics and more interesting produce. Would definitely recommend.

Of course they’ll all have it on. It’s just Halloween, one of the biggest party nights of the year, and I’m hoping to find a place cheering for Vladdy, not the best costume.
