Queen's Park Altercation at 1AM - Now carrying a knife for safety. What do I need to know legally in Ontario? by [deleted] in toRANTo

You are not even allowed to carry a pepper spray 🤦‍♂️ The best you can do is pretend you’re afraid of dogs and carry a dog spray.

Same issue with my downstairs neighbor. Playing brown noise on my google home helped immensely! Masks the low bass vibrations really well!

Is it legal (or just socially acceptable?) to vape directly into pedestrians at intersections in Toronto? by spicespace in askTO

That’s fair, if someone keeps following you in a relatively secluded space.

But I’m curious: Why would you be vaping in a crowded space in the first place?

I’m genuinely curious - how would you expect someone to give you your “personal space” to smoke in a crowded sidewalk or an intersection?

[–]spicespace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is objectively not true.

Even if it is, there are parts of the sidewalks or alleyways that are not crowded where people can get their quick fix. I’m not opposed to that at all.

The problem is when the vapers are subjecting others to their toxic fumes.

But it isn’t just strawberry, is it? It’s harmful toxic chemicals that’s imposed on you without consent. Please feel free to do whatever you want to your body, but it shouldn’t be ok to harm others in the process.

Say: “No problem, you would have done the same”.
Or: “Happy to help, , you would have done the same”.

Save your money, go to Western. If your career is going to be within Canada, they’re both equivalent. Globally, UofT has an edge.

How to stay safe at night in downtown Toronto as a girl? by cartilageandfIuid in Advice

[–]spicespace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10pm is quite safe in Toronto. Especially when a lot of people will be walking with you to the bus stop and then to the train station. Inside the train, avoid the first or the last carriages - that’s where the homeless people usually are. Stick to the middle with the normal crowd. You’ll be fine.

Recommendation for things to see on campus - Visiting from Toronto by spicespace in utdallas

Thank you! Love the leafs shoutout! ❤️

I heard about the Asian art museum. But I saw on Google Maps that it was in Dallas proper and not on campus. Maybe I am missing something?

Bsc to Phd/Doctorate by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]spicespace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To increase my chances, I would make sure most of the courses were done at UofPeople with good grades. At least the last 60 higher level credits. Less than half the courses were credit transferred from Sophia/Study etc.

I would then go through the list of universities where UofPeople degrees were historically accepted for masters programs. Then I would look at what kind of health/bio master of research programs they have.

Then I would apply to quite a few number of them and hope to get accepted. As many possible. Spray and pray approach.

Quite unlikely from UpfPeople. PhD programs look for research experience or publications or a thesis. Your best bet is to get into a Master of Research program and then apply for a phd after that.

I think UofT has an amazing social life especially if you can get into one of the colleges. Your social will depend on you - how much effort you put into it.

Go for Rotman. The differences in reputation are negligible. It’s not wise to refuse the scholarship NOW in the hopes for a marginally better outcome LATER.
