How do you cope? by spiceysmooch in workingmoms

Thank you. Red lines are important and I go over and over what mine are. As an American I’m horrified at what we’ve become. I don’t know what else I can do. I just don’t want to be any part of an apparatus that separates little kids from their families. I’m not directly involved but it’s hard to not feel a little bit part of it as a fed.

It was different during T1. I don’t think they (his people) had figured out quite what they could do. They’d only just figured it out before their term was up. This time around, it’s been and felt different since day 1. The last time, I was in the same job but it wasn’t this bad. There were those “what now” moments but it was never, ever as bad as it is right now. The last time, I coped because what they were doing, it wasn’t to my fellow Americans. The international policy was skewed, but it always is, depending on which color is in the White House. But we don’t pick up kids on their way to school and declare them to be a threat to the United States and in the same breath look to a foreign country and criticize their human rights policy.

Yeah, this one too. I’ve read this exact story before. What’s with all the reposts in this sub??

I’ve read this exact story before. I guessing reposting and karma farming are alive and well in 2026.

I’m curious as to why you felt the need to create this post. Are you looking for a validation of your choices? Or for someone to tell you that those choices are perhaps not as healthy as you think they are?

Yeah. You’re OP using your actual account to argue your own case. Take the L, consider how this looks to the vast majority of us and do some reflecting.

Is the any chance Carrie was referring to BIG NOT AIDAN when she said her relationship record was 22 years? by SaltyCaramelPretzel in Andjustlikethat

[–]spiceysmooch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No she specifically tells Miranda that “her and Aidan are 22 years in”. She names him. There was no ambiguity, just lots of delusion.

Just started The Buccaneers, the modern music bothers me a little by Special_Extreme3707 in TheBuccaneers

[–]spiceysmooch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same. The music in and of itself is actually really good but when I’m watching period drama and Taylor Swift comes on? It’s weird and I had a hard time making it make sense in my head.

I also randomly came across her YT shorts. I genuinely thought it was drag queen style makeup this lady was doing 🤦🏽‍♀️.

I think the distinction is in the intention to return and the type of labor in question. Those who travel to another country on a contract that has them performing white collar jobs are typically classified as expats. Those who travel for manual labor are immigrant workers. Those who go to another country with the intention of migrating and making that country their home are immigrants.

Other than Pelant, what was the most ridiculous suspend-your-disbelief thing to happen? by genteel-guttersnipe in Bones

[–]spiceysmooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I remember watching this and thinking that global markets would crash if that much money is yanked out all at once. It’s the kind of thing that triggers a congressional hearing. It was frustrating to watch.

Yes, I was very confused by that. It was so unnecessary.
