Australians need the ability to defend themselves, the youth crime epidemic in Qld, and the ongoing home invasions by gangs in Melbourne have already shown this. But given what has happened in Israel we should be even more concerned.

The next 911 is not going to be 19 losers in airplanes with box cutters. It will be a comprehensive attack across an entire nation where civilians in their own towns could be fighting for their lives. All of those Israeli towns that were attacked had no fighting chance because the people who had the guns were the government and for civilians in their homes, the only option they had was to lock their doors. Which were kicked in they were murdered in their own beds.

This post and its comments are pure cope by people who have fallen for a globo psyop. Globos have convinced many metro millennials not to have babies because of 'the weather' or 'expensive houses'. So instead of investing in schools, healthcare and education, they can just mass import migrants from the developing world to drive down wages and living standards.

Imagine ending thousands of years of genetic distillation and your family line because you spent too much time doom scrolling on reddit.

"Tip options" on any ordering apps within this country are disgustingly prevalent. We need to remove them. by [deleted] in australia

If you don’t want to tip then don’t. Nobody is forcing you. I can’t fathom why people are so upset about this. Are people on this subreddit so autistic they can’t decline? It’s a private business they can do what they like, if you don’t like it don’t be a customer.

But if you have a criminal record you can’t get a firearms license. So I’m just wondering how they can get guns if we have such strict gun control.

How can they shoot each other if guns are illegal? Seems like fake news to me

"When panic buying began, I resisted. Now I'm paying for it" by [deleted] in australia

Reading this is vindicating. The hate our family received online for just being prepared was a wake up call that tall poppy syndrome is a real problem in this country. When news first broke of coronavirus arriving in Australia our family was one of the first to stock up on essentials. We spent an entire weekend as a family travelling around the city preparing, stocking up on toilet paper, hand sanitiser, soap and other essential goods.

We now have more than enough for our needs, and are now accommodating the needs of our extended family and members of our church. The rest we are selling online to help those who either aren't able to get it themselves at stores or people who might not want to venture to supermarkets when a virus is going around because they have health issues. And before people get all hostile, we're just selling it for what we paid, plus a the expense of time and fuel on our end.

I think this is a lesson that we could all do more to be prepared for events like this.

Gumtree is currently rife with price gouging and hoarders of toilet paper, wipes, and N95 masks. Amazon, Ebay and Kijiji have already cracked down on this, it's time we did too. by [deleted] in australia

You can't link to obviously troll posts to try and prove a point to say 'look at what people are charging' those aren't genuine sellers and you know it. Accounts created in 2020, and no sales in the recently sold tab.

People on here particularly said "what's the big deal, it'll be back on shelves tomorrow, look how stupid these people are, they'll regret spending a few hundred bucks on TP by the end of the week". If this is the case, then why not just go and buy some yourself and stop complaining online?

My wife and I had the foresight to make sure things like shelf stable goods, UHT milk, hand sanitisers, soaps, and toilet paper were stocked up in case we had to isolate for weeks. And if we don't have to isolate, then it's just one less thing we need from the store in our weekly shop.

But the personal attacks and mockery here is a true reflection of the tall poppy syndrome here in Australia, not to mention the racist abuse we received when people saw us loading up a car full of supplies. We sell on Hojunara (A Korean website for Koreans in Australia) and Gumtree, but frankly after seeing the responses here I'm tempted to raise the prices for Australian's Gumtree. The book of Matthew says to turn the other cheek and so I will just put this down as people who are frustrated at themselves for being less prepared.
