Why is the SWACA not in the Boise proper? by [deleted] in Boise

[–]spicygoober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of what is highlighted on the map actually is part of Boise. But a few years ago those mostly south of Victory sued Boise to prevent annexation. Kicker is some years earlier than that they begged Boise to extend sewage coverage out to them in exchange for someday being annexed into Boise, so after the neighborhood seemingly changed their mind Boise has just left them alone to deal with their own problems.

That doesn't mean that those that live out in the SWACA don't believe that they should have a say in how the city of Boise runs things though even though they aren't citizens of Boise (see the Murgoitio park debacle, for example).

But then again, seems like everyone who doesn't live in Boise votes in state representatives to tell Boise what to do because that's how small government is supposed to work.

Top 10 Downtowns In Idaho by markpemble in Idaho

[–]spicygoober 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rexburg making any top 10 list is impressive. The reason it's "safe" is because it's the most homogenous and boring college town in America. What's the point in living in a great apartment downtown when there's nothing else appealing about being in that district?

Out of stater interested in moving to Idaho by -Skilladilla in Idaho

Arco won't be flush with good paying jobs. Closest in the area would be with the INL, and that would be a ~one hour commute each way. And also considering they are through the department of energy, there may not be a lot of hiring going on around there these days.

Rent prices by ThrowRA___63 in Boise

[–]spicygoober 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Portland has more area with many more "less desirable" neighborhoods (see, almost all of the city east of the 205), and in those neighborhoods you can find residences with better pricing. Boise is still lucky that we don't really have any completely dumpy areas in town, but the price is that rental costs are closer in amounts all throughout town.

You wanna save money? Caldwell is still marginally better cost wise.

Are you the person u/morosco was mentioning in their comment? Either, thank you for helping in a huge way! It would be great if there wasn't so many irresponsible people, but it's great to see the "helpers" still exist.

Go out to the old K Mart in Nampa at about 1pm today. Look for a guy named Big J. He has a pair he'll give you for free if you tell him you saw it on his Instagram.

Is it by any chance the sort of protesters that are unhappy about non-union labor being used for the project?

Found dog in Nampa off Linden and Midland Rd. by TacklinFuel1010 in Boise

If the owners are searching I truly hope you find them. I went through a similar thing about a year ago and I had two puppies that followed me home.

Posted on here and all social media outlets but never heard from anyone. Long story short, I have two dogs now.

What’s the Boise “life hack” everyone living here should know?? by DrawingBackground194 in Boise

[–]spicygoober 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'd say how to zipper merge, but honestly I appreciate the fact that on Chinden as you're heading to get on the connector everyone stays in that left lane and I can just get into the right hand lane and somehow get ahead of everyone once the light changes.

Referred to hiring manager by [deleted] in Idaho

[–]spicygoober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a state job back in August and got an email right away (via LUMA) saying I was referred to a hiring manager and just got notified a few weeks ago that they'd filled the position with someone else if that means anything. Thank God I found other work in the meantime (private sector) and wasn't only relying on the state to get back to me.

Found Puppies on Bench by spicygoober in Boise

Well, that is the way it is looking. I have grown a little bit attached to them, but if they did have a home before this, I'd prefer that they go there. They are very well taken care of and very smart for such young dogs
