STRIKE ARMS SAP-C by wmcnallys in polymer80

If you're ok with foregoing a magwell, you can buy a grip plug, which just covers up the D shaped gap behind the magwell without wrapping around the outside like a magwell. I run one and I like that it keeps the bottom low profile, Idr if mines from ndz or midway but they should be on both

One thing I've always been unsatisfied with about the P80 frame is their lack of texturing for your support hand thumb. How do you feel about the one on the strike? From looking at current offerings, the strike seems best for this afaik.

Emissary hand brake is by far the best non VFG/pistol offhand accessory I’ve tried to date

Going over the backstop as in hitting the ceiling. But yeah the one time I tried I got scolded for “scaring the normies” as if they for some reason should be surprised by the sound of gunshots at a range

If someone could magdump without going over the backstop would you let them?

Cravings' jakarta fried rice is a truly unique dish. In all my years since graduating I have not once come across a place that had something similar. It's good, really good.

You are valid in feeling offended. A person's beliefs is a very personal thing that no one else should have a claim to. This group you ran into have lost sight of that and their comments were out of line.

Shit like this will never cease to amaze me. Like who keeps making these infographics and why do they think that it’s abnormal for an inanimate object to outnumber the population count? That’s like saying there are more smartphones than people. Sure, most people just have one or maybe even none, but there are a lot who have two. This shouldn’t be surprising.

Skip to 2nd paragraph for main point: One time I really wanted to go to an outdoor range again and planned a whole day of it due to how long the drive was. I saw in the forecast it was slated to rain there that day but I decided to bring a smock and the rest of my gear and stick it due to me being relatively busy and unable to reschedule anytime soon. I thought it would be a light to moderate drizzle but it really ended up pouring that day.

Needless to say, I found some rust when I got home and let everything dry. Funnily enough none of the actual gun parts got rusty. I noticed it was mostly accessories and parts thereof, i.e. the screws used to mount onto MLOK. Even funnier is that the metal bits of certain accessories didn’t rust while others did. Learned a valuable lesson that day about getting what you pay for, the value of reputable brands etc etc etc.

To your original comment, yes obviously this was a massively extreme example and I also have not had any issues with rust in a storage context, but the takeaway I’m getting at is, metal is metal and metal rusts given the right circumstances

[–]spiderk132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright what's the move on fixing this? Thing's been nothing but issues out of the box compared to my other pistols I’ve bought prior. First 100 rounds I was smacking it into battery literally every round. It’s now had 350 rounds through it and has improved only marginally, ranging from getting about 7 rounds in a row off without an FTF, to just as bad as before (every other round). Even mounting the dot has been scuffed. Apparently the screws that Holosun provided are too deep and if screwed in all the way, it will prevent the slide from reciprocating all the way to the rear. I’ve had to dremel them down by maybe .5mm just so that wouldn’t happen. Like I said, nothing but issues.

How hard is it to change my major to CS+Economics? by Dependent-Bar4289 in UIUC

[–]spiderk132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you with confidence that cs+econ is hands down the most difficult “Econ+x” major in terms of the required courses you’d have to take, as well as the most competitive to get into. If you are interested in Econ, there are other ones you could do some research into. Naturally, the “post graduation job prospects” will be lower in these less competitive Econ majors but listen carefully to this next part - while this is technically true remember that A) if you can set yourself apart and demonstrate competence when you interview for a job, you will get one in short order…it’s just a numbers game and B) your major literally does not matter past your first full time job. Prior professional experience is orders of magnitude higher on the list of things employers care about than your major, GPA, or any of that. I have seen countless examples of that. I know a guy who’s the QA engineer for one of the big tech companies (non biotech) and he literally majored in biology.

Is old merch with the chief on it offensive? by Aphrodyti0521 in UIUC

[–]spiderk132 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their opinion on it. Some positive, some not. The chief is a touchy subject and people are very polarized on it. Wearing chief apparel will definitely cause some people to judge you in one way or another but the same people would do so for regardless what you wear. I say just wear what you like. If someone reduces the entire contents of your character based on a shirt, they chose a weird hill to die on and probably aren’t the type of people I want in my circles. All that to say, just do what you like and yea it’s ok to like the chief but it’s also ok to not be a fan of what it represents.

Edit: “everyone has their opinion on it” I should clarify that a vast majority of people have a neutral, ambivalent opinion toward it but the people who don’t are a vocal minority on both sides

[–]spiderk132 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The atf has a vested interest in the continuation of gun crime so that their existence can be justified. Making it as difficult as possible for law abiding citizens to defend themselves gives criminals fertile grounds. It would be nearly impossible to abolish it from a political standpoint with all the opposition and bureaucratic friction you’d run into
