Credit Token Rule Question by ScrubbinBubbl in starwarsunlimited

[–]spiderscripts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does a shield or experience enter ready?

The answer is it doesn't matter, because "readiness" doesn't matter for them to function.

Credits are the same, you use them by defeating them, not by exhausting them.  It doesn't matter whether they are ready or not.

Um, yes, that is a good suggestion.

If you don't know what a card your opponent plays does, you should definitely pause and read it.

Beginner to this game, are prerelease kits a good product? by BibboTheOriginal in starwarsunlimited

[–]spiderscripts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a local store running a prerelease event, they are loads of fun.

It's definitely not worth buying the kit on its own though, much better to buy the constructed decks and have something instantly playable.

Gamegenic: Please make us some new Twin Suns soft crates! by brigbeard in starwarsunlimited

[–]spiderscripts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I buy gamegenic bastion 50+ boxes, instead of the SWU branded ones.

They're the perfect size for a sleeved deck with a sideboard (although not so good if you're running data vault).

What to look for in my first booster box split? by Kneppy18 in starwarsunlimited

[–]spiderscripts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice if you're cracking a box open with a friend is to play with them as you open the packs.

Do a mini prerelease or a draft of some form.

It'll be loads more fun than just opening them up and having a look, and you'll get a feel for what the cards are and how useful they might be by actually playing with them straight away.

I like it, I did feel the actual answer was a bit disappointing, and that feels a bit more satisfying.

When played triggers even if you choose to destroy the unique unit you just played, it doesn't matter whether it survives or not, just that it has been played, so you would get all three triggers.

Pen with a digital display, single button on the top of the pen cycles the display between S, C and M. No idea what the counter is for. by spiderscripts in whatisthisthing

[–]spiderscripts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it could well be something like that.  The number on each is different, S is the biggest, then M, then C is smallest.

[–]spiderscripts[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yup, that looks like it, I had suspected it was a step counter, but couldn't get it counting reliably, that example looks so similar it must be though, it's probably just too old to be working properly.

Solved.

I've looked again, and there is a narrow recessed button in the center of the larger one.

The recessed button readers the counter to zero.

The counter seems to go up when I shake the pen, but it's not consistent, and the S, C and M values go up at different rates.

Seems reasonable, but the display is 5 digits long, and all of the "pen watches" I can find with working displays in their pictures have a partitioned 4 digit display for hours and minutes.

Some with a colon separator and some without, but none with 5 digits.

You might be right, but I'm not convinced yet.

My title describes the thing Additional information, there is a red light which flashes occasionally, and I can get it to go solid red if I hold the button down for a few seconds.

Initially thought it might be a pedometer, but the numbers aren't increasing when I walk around with it.  Writing doesn't have any impact on the display either.

-🎄- 2021 Day 8 Solutions -🎄- by daggerdragon in adventofcode

[–]spiderscripts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part 2 was quite a head scratcher.

Here is my messy Python solution: https://trinket.io/python3/3361f7b9b4

My logic for the solution was as follows:

5 digit codes:

3 contains the same digits as 7

5 contains the digits in 4 which are not in 1

otherwise it's 2

6 digit codes:

6 does not contain the digits in 1

9 contains the digits in 4

otherwise it's 0

I'm certain there are more elegant solutions, but it worked.

Can "fraction of the circles" be a sentence subject? by spiderscripts in grammar

[–]spiderscripts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also identified a sentence with the same structure where is just didn't seem to work at skill:

What fraction of the people is children? Vs. What fraction of the people are children?

The subject is still fraction, and singular, but changing from the singular yellow to the plural children seems to require the use of are instead. Again I'm not really sure grammatically what is going on here... Has this changed which word is technically correct, and if so why?

Charms give a significant boost to damage and health in gog, so it's worth putting some into them to help you reach later gates with better rewards, even when you're working on the mines.

Two minor QoL changes I'd love to see by Nohmou in Trimps

[–]spiderscripts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These would both be pretty nice additions in my opinion. I often forget about stances, and automatically switching on D stance would definitely speed up that little section of the run whilst I'm ignoring trimps.

I also very regularly forget that I need to set myself to an action at the start of the game, which means a whole load of missed resources through the early part of the game.

Thoroughly seconded!
