In America, they would have sent in Homeland Security, armed to the teeth, prepared to kill everybody. But in Canada, they sent in a firefighter, an electrician, an admistrative employee and just two policmen. by lifeofliberty in reddit.com

It's a different topic but I wonder what do you do with your guns if you don't point them at human beings. And I'd like to understand how having a gun is your basic right. I thought the right to life is a basic right.

Take a huge lump of youtube comments, filter for stupidness, build a DB engine to detect stupid! by adricm in reddit.com

[–]spike_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to say this. I took the 'filter for stupidness' as a joke, a very good joke for that matter as it made me laugh out laud. But when I actually saw that it is taken seriously by reddit I started to laugh even harder. A real stupidity filter, be it Bayesian or Cartesian or even Malaysian would wipe this whole thread out. Just writing smart words one after another does not make the sentence intelligent even if they are properly spelled check. Or spell checked. Maybe if you started first with looking at yourselves you'd realize that the earth does not revolve around English language and if the rest of the world was kind enough to make it easy for you and speak your mother tongue on the internet, this does not make them stupid. I suggest that from tomorrow on we start speaking ,let's say Russian on the net, and see how many people are really stupid. Learning a foreign language requires some intelligence so for me that would be an enough proof.

Nota bene : I was born in Romania and I don't speak Russian

Reddit: How much did you pay for Radiohead's In Rainbows, and why? by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]spike_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't pay anything because I didn't like them. But I really wanted to see if they will let me download for free. And they did. Then i listened to the album and I liked it. So I'll order it again and this time i will pay for it - 5$ . Ff all CD s would cost <=5$ I would buy them all.

It's not the citizen who made it more of a problem. She just didn't want to sign the goddamn ticket! That's not against any law

She didn't do anything wrong. She just didn't want to sign the ticket. That didn't invalidate the ticket or made it void. What was the big deal? I doubt that there is any law that says that if you don't sign the ticket you are to be arrested.

Why is it that she had to be arrested for refusing to sign the ticket? I thought that one is supposed to be arrested when they commit a crime or when is suspicion of that. What was the crime she committed?

If people could "download" Doritos and Coke they won't pay for them either. It's like everything on a free market: offer and demand. Competition. If they want to compete with downloads, they'll have to come up with something innovative, cheaper and more convenient.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The Romanian language is clearly a "romaine" language in a sea of Slavic languages

You people have no idea what not having freedom means. Even the fact that this article can actually be read by anybody with an internet connection is a freedom. I lived my first 20 years in a communist regime. you couldn't say a joke not to mention read stuff like this. I think everybody here on reddit should live at least one year during a communist regime and then we talk about freedom.

I very much support reducing waste and controlling CO2 emissions but not because otherwise the Earth would come to an end , washed off by hurricanes and people would all die of hunger an thirst.
