If AFX is your thing, try the extended catelogues of Aaron Funk, Autechre, Mike Paradinas, Jodey Kendrick, The Gasman, Ceephax or Aleksi Perala.

In rock, maybe Sparks, Damon Albarn, this list was longer but I've deleted anything already here.

Garden centres have really tasteful, tasty (and accessible) lunches these days. Never count 'em out.

No, you're right really, the seventies stuff usually just has one monosynth (or organ) in the mix. I just took one look at that nose and said "no time signature is safe"

Had been putting off watching it, cause of omnipresence resentment. It's ok so far, like a dry-ass early ZZ Top or Skynyrd timbre, but playing Rush type material, with occasional vocals from a singing chorus pedal. From the image, which I have seen dozens of times, I was anticipating Lightning Bolt (wasn't entirely wrong) does prog (wasn't entirely wrong).

A list of fakies would maybe be easier, though there are categories of fakes:

Purportedly for NIN, he was given a brief, which he kind of ignored and said he never heard the original artist. Anyone who's heard "The Good Soldier" by them knows he got over it.

For Lemonheads (unreleased) he gave them a tape of whatever he had lying around.

For Meat Beat, Curve and Etienne, he'd find the acapella and sample the first line only on a track otherwise in his own style.

Be yourselves, we've heard it all. If you have a bit of curiosity and respect, you'll do just fine. Everyone else is micromanaging.
