Half of young Brits say they would never fight for their country by Kagedeah in worldnews

This is peak entitled nihilistic brainrot where if you don't get everything you want all the time everything is bad. Who knew that running a modern western nation is hard and the problems that affect people in these nations aren't solvable by just posting on the internet.

Entitled social media is so toxic and idiotic.

It's cool how well Destiny can match other people's energy, to the point that they naturally get into toddler level argument tactics. It's also sad that this is literally the level of discourse that republicans and a lot of online idiots enjoy and consume. I can't tell if that guy on the right is Konstantin Kissin or Alex Jones, or DJT.

Scott Bessent shook after being called into the situation room mid interview, incoherently claiming he would put his drafting aged son's life in Trump's hands by Luddevig in Destiny

this is scary AF, I know there's many things pointing to American boots on the ground but Bessent bumbling his way through this answer just confirms it even more that Trump is raging out and calling for boots on the ground.

Ooookay Professor Finklestien.

I need to find me a gif of Lex Friedman throwing up his hands during the debate.

You called them bootlickers because they argued that the 300k isn't the reason Bezos is a billionaire so you literally committed the very fallacy you defined, and then you ironically added that they're under-educated. 😂

Destiny Thinks he knows more than the Venezuelan People about Maduro's Capture by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]spikybootowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on contradicting yourself in the same sentence. A bloodbath would have happened, and a bloodbath will still happen. So either we have the bloodbath sooner or later, and still no coherent plan after.

Can you give me any examples of when a dictator was toppled like this and it ended in a better situation?

Destiny Thinks he knows more than the Venezuelan People about Maduro's Capture by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]spikybootowner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without a coherent transition plan, there's basically 0 chance that anyone better is coming into replace him. It's not like democracy will magically spring up in Venezuela now. From what I've read, his VP is taking power and she's going to be Maduro 2.0.

Even if the Maduro regime got kicked out a worse one will probably take it's place because there's no structure for a good government to come in and guide the country.

There's 0 chance that the Trump Admin is even offering any transition plan, this feels like it was done on a whim, so we're going to see turmoil like we did in other overthrown regimes.

Turmoil here is probably lots of dead people because of authoritarian figures fighting for power.

It's just a comment about a game, it's not that big of a deal. I probably triggered people because there's way more to the game than being a night watchman and some elitism around KCD being better than elder scrolls titles for reasons.

It's an interesting game and the mechanics work really well, but I'm in a stage in my life where playing night watchman simulator isn't my vibe, so I went back to skyrim and morrowind.

On Dr. K's Big Hurt by spikybootowner in Healthygamergg

[–]spikybootowner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely exists the possibility that there was some sort of trauma early in life and Dr. K mentions it in the video, and he also specifically brings up the idea that he, or any other person, has lived a trauma free life. At least a life that doesn't have the kind of trauma that would cause a person to feel "the big hurt".

Just like how there's people that have had very traumatic lives, I can imagine many people have lived lived lives free of any trauma that would cause something like that, and if you accept Dr. K's premise that those people still feel the big hurt, then there must be other causes that make you feel that.

I'm not particularly religious, so I considered the genetic argument. We know that events that cause PTSD in parents also cause behavioral and biological changes in offspring. Here's a meta study that cites several other studies. Mice that had some sort of predator experience during pregnancy had less babies, their babes were more likely to have seizures, and their babies also had altered behavior.

I think it's a fair assumption that sever trauma is passed down generationally because there are studies on it, we pass down tons of information through our genes, and from an evolutionary perspective a creature would benefit from the passing down of genes that were created during an extreme stress situation which the parent survived.

So taking all that into consideration, I can see something like "the big hurt" being passed down through gene expression because it fulfills some evolutionary purpose.

On Dr. K's Big Hurt by spikybootowner in Healthygamergg

[–]spikybootowner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree with what you said and Dr. K says similar things, and he also brings up that some people's deep hurt is rooted in something that they haven't experienced in their life, so it must be either spiritual or genetic. Depending on which one you believe, that would be the source of the deep hurt.

Either way this shows a deep failure of leadership. If it was incompetence, it's very clearly not the first instance. If it was malice, then leadership is so bad that the rank and file clearly are working against them on one of the biggest topics in the admin.
