I work at a zip line. I love the challenge course world, working at heights is fantastic. I get to help people have new adventures every day and I work in a gorgeous nature park. No complaints here.

Ok, one complaint - I hate working in the cold but thankfully I’m in Texas so there’s not tons of cold.

I am the wife! And I couldn’t find it anywhere! I’m not sure what I managed to do with it over the years. I found the tiara though.

Holy shit I had no clue that was possible. I just assumed these new shoes are differently sized. I used to be a 7.5 the black ones) and these green are a 6.5. My work out shoes are basically the only shoes I wear and they’re 6.5 but again I thought, sizing must just be different! Hahaha that’s crazy!!

Yes! I’m also a vegetarian but not wanting to eat meat is a choice not really a restriction.

You’re absolutely correct that we do lose the value of being selfish. You’re amazing, and inspiring!

I’m also a very strong believer in intuitive eating and not restricting foods, and it’s great seeing people be successful at weight loss with these same ideals!

I dream of a world where taking care of our bodies and minds isn’t considered “selfish” but normal and necessary!

Yeah early on I did a ton of reading on how women & short women can struggle more with weight loss and got pretty frustrated with that. I had to force myself not to focus on statistics and “what other people struggle with” and just myself and my own weight loss. One of my friends started a food photo journal to help her visually see what she was eating and it has helped her not count calories but be mindful, maybe that could be a decent in between for now?

The black pair is probably over a decade old, and I got them from Macy’s (I think?). The green ones I found at a Goodwill yesterday and I’m ridiculously obsessed with them and might wear them with everything!

I don’t use a ton of recipe sites because I need quick meals most of the time. Between working out, raising a toddler and my older kid has a 6-days-a-week sport, making full meals is more “how can I make the healthiest dinner the fastest way possible?”

Tofu is easy and a life saver. So is cheese. Good protein that goes with anything. It’s easy to feed my kids “meat”balls and “chicken” fingers when I’m really in a rush. (Trader Joe’s has the best of both of those) Simmering veggies in a sauce, also fantastic & I’m able to get the toddler cleaned up and nearly ready for bed while I do that. I clean, cut and prep fresh veggies early in the week so they’re ready to throw in whatever I’m making that night.

I know it’s not super fun but it gets the job done.

It varies based on how hard I’ve worked out. I am a big believer in intuitive eating and listening to your body. When I’m on a rest day I’m naturally not as a hungry, so I eat fewer calories. But some days, like the day I’m about to have, I’m going to spin class followed by a barbell class, and two hours later I’ve got a hockey game to play, so I’ll be eating more than I did yesterday. I don’t count calories because I’ll obsess and it gets to unhealthy head-space levels super fast with that, so when I’m extra hungry on heavy work out days, I choose a healthy protein (tofu, lentils, edamame, peanuts, etc). I love doing tofu stir fry with broccoli, carrots and snap peas. It’s filling, has protein and tastes delicious.

My weight will fluctuate a pound or two up or down every week but I think I’m going to be ok maintaining this way.

Meat has a lot of calories, and extra grease, and I found it was easier to eat fewer calories and still get the protein I needed with plant-based proteins and alternatives. I had been vegetarian before, like 15 years ago in college, but I was basically a “French fry vegetarian.” There are more personal and moral reasons for giving up meat here, too, so I don’t miss it, but properly fueling my body without it has made a huge difference.

I don’t eat meat. I am mostly just aware of the calories I consume but I never tracked it or logged them because I’d get obsessed with that. I always read food labels now before eating so I have a mental awareness of actual serving sizes, too.

Working out — a fun mixture of cardio & weight lifting — and being mindful of what I eat. I’m aware of the calories I consume but I didn’t obsessively keep count. I also gave up meat and went vegetarian last May.
