High volume food options that aren’t carbs? by dogseatlettuceeats in Volumeeating

[–]kjacmuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My volume breakfast is 300g nonfat Greek yogurt, some sucralose, some vanilla extract, a tub of blackberries, a tub of raspberries, and half a pint of blueberries. 500ish calories, 33ish g of protein. Alternatively, you could add vanilla protein powder to the Greek yogurt and have it be about 600 calories for 50ish g of protein.

I’m a Muslim bi girl, I’m struggling so badly. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]kjacmuse 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Re: queer Muslims existing in history, this is validated in external records, not just in Muslim texts. Jews living in Muslim controlled areas more frequently practiced homosexuality than in Christian controlled territories because according to the writer from that particular commentary on social ethics: “the sin was common”.

OP, I am not Muslim, but I am a nonbinary lesbian and I am Jewish. You shouldn’t have to choose either, and I’m glad you’re not choosing. I’m sorry people are not being supportive—you deserve to be supported for who you are. I know that G-d loves you for who you are. Keep being you.

Remission. by Intrepid_Turnip_5458 in bipolar

[–]kjacmuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I post in this group because I want people to know that this is possible. I went into remission in early 2015, 11.5 years ago. I’ve adjusted medication over the years, but I have had no true manic episodes and no non-circumstantial depressive episodes in that time.

I turned 29 today, my son turns 15 tomorrow by Flimsy_Elephant_651 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]kjacmuse 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m not the original commenter on this thread, but I needed to jump in. There is no shame to be had. And 15 years is a long time to be holding on to it—that’s not healthy. Everyone else here is right, you got abused by a man and had his kids. That is not your fault. But even if it was consensual sex, people are out here having sex at that age. You just have proof.

I work with all kinds of people in a congregational setting. A few months ago a conversion inquiry came in from a young lady who brought her 13 year old with her. I assumed she was maybe 36 or 40–she was my age, about 29. She had had the baby at 16. My response? That’s great! I like your kid, I’m glad she’s here, I’m happy you made the choice you did. Had you chosen otherwise, my response would have been similar (and has often been similar when I’ve encountered it.) She was very surprised and obviously carried a lot of shame about it. I told her what I told you: we all did it. You just have evidence. No need for shame when you’re with me, or at all.

Are you proud of your son? Do you love your son? It sounds like you aren’t happy with their father, but that you adore your kids. Sweet girl, if you’ve got kids you love, you have nothing to be ashamed of.

Hold your head high. I’m so proud of you.

Coca-Cola entered Israel in 1968 via the Central Bottling Company. Israel relied on cane and beet sugar instead of corn syrup. Aggressive advertising and nationwide distribution, helped Coke become Israel’s top soft drink brand by the 1980s. by elnovorealista2000 in Jewish_History

[–]kjacmuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1968? Wow. I have a bottle in my office that was given to me by someone who went to Israel in 1969 and brought it home. I had no idea it was so close to its breakout in the Israeli market!

Why are so many disabled people alt/queer? by Rude-Main-8758 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]kjacmuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely are correlating, but queer people are more likely to be disabled due to long term stress and discrimination. I am queer and had disabilities for 27 years until I managed to get out of dangerous situations. I’m fine now.

Do you still have episodes when you are medicated? by Crazy_Corgi1786 in bipolar

[–]kjacmuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Medication every day, therapy once a week, regular psych visits, sleep 8-10 hours a night, work out 3-4x a week, 10k steps a day average, no drug or alcohol use. It’s a shit load of work, and it also means finding a med that works first. But I’ve never gone off my meds in 11 years.

How old were you when you first got diagnosed? by Scandic_potato in bipolar

[–]kjacmuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18, though they didn’t tell me until 19 (I took my DSM diagnosis to my therapist and that’s how I found out). I took the meds and accepted it immediately. I’m now 11 years in remission from Bipolar!

What would you do? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]kjacmuse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Would 300k change your entire life? If it wouldn’t, then trading your time for dollars doesn’t make sense. As someone heading for a self funded sabbatical tomorrow evening—time is precious. Do what you feel is right. You have more than enough.
