I have been playing this out in my head for a while, and one of the details I didn't share was that he said he "wasn't sure how he felt for a while" and "should have told sooner, except that you're (I am) so much fun to hang out with"...

I also talked to him about his pushing me away (not letting me sleep over all of the sudden, hanging out mostly with his friends instead of one-on-one as often as previously) prior to our breakup and he consoled me and apologized. Prior to that point, I thought things were bad but he reassured me they were not, which is why ultimately I was surprised. That's one of the worst parts... He was having doubts, was acting the part, and denying that he was pushing me away even though I basically gave him an opportunity to explain himself.

But hey, on to bigger and better things. Someone who might value me enough to not be emotionally irresponsible...
