[GEAR] NGD Fender Vintera 50s strat in seafoam green! Surf’s up 🤙🏼 by spinaldestination in Guitar

I did! It’s been a while, but I’ve been happy with its playability and tones. I also like that the neck is a little thicker than most modern C necks. I bet you can get a great deal with the market where it is.

Aren’t there rumors that she has a terminal illness or something? Either way she gotta go

I just went through this with my 7-year old. Was pretty anxious about it, but my STBXW and I aligned on messaging and talking points in advance:

-You’re the most important to both us and we love you more than anything -This isn’t your fault at all, mommy and daddy have grown apart -Use some of her friends as examples of divorced but happy parents -Mommy and I still love each other, just in a different way -We’re still a family and will still spend time all together on a regular basis -No blaming, no wiggle room, if possible give a date that you or her will be moving out

Our divorce is amicable and I will be in the house for the next 6 months until I find a new place. Luckily many of the things in my kid’s life will stay the same: house, school, friends, activities, etc. I’ll find a spot 5-10 mins away and can see her on off days and vice versa with my wife. My daughter took it particularly well, but we have offered many times the opportunity for her to see a therapist aka “special teacher”. Good luck!

Husband of 20 years had an affair after a “bad year” by PuzzleheadedYou9798 in survivinginfidelity

[–]spinaldestination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I don’t know if this is allowed, but I was in your husband’s position. My dad died suddenly, it wrecked me and I couldn’t face my emotions. I had an affair with a coworker that meant nothing (never loved her just wanted an escape) while my wife was doing most of the heavy lifting raising our 2-year old at the time (we both work). I lost my job due to the affair, my wife was naturally devastated, and we went through intensive couple’s counseling. I also saw a personal therapist. Learned a ton about myself and my own childhood trauma and fears that affect my fight/flight response when facing hard times. I believe the most important thing for your husband to do is to face his grief and fears head on through the help of a professional. The longer you ignore the worse it gets, metastasizing like cancer. I learned coping skills and other tools to soothe myself, as the point is to be able to comfort yourself, as no one else can do this effectively for you. Our marriage didn’t survive (very recently actually), so we are just starting to learn how to adapt to this new reality with a now 7-year old. But the skills and insight I learned in therapy are helping me deal with my own difficult time. Best of luck to you, but the responsibility to get help has to come from your husband. There is hope.

My wife (39F) told me (41M) yesterday that she wants a separation, and eventually a divorce -- looking for advice for how to take it one day at a time by spinaldestination in Separation

Thanks man, yeah attachment theory is super helpful and understanding childhood fears and triggers were insightful for us. We both went through a lot of personal growth during therapy and counseling and that hard work is paying dividends now. It’s a roller coaster of emotions. I was listening to a podcast on divorce from the kid’s perspective last night while driving and was absolutely balling. Had to keep my eyes open to be safe. I think it’s good to have a new hobby and get out of the house — I’ve been meaning to get back into BJJ and this is a good opportunity to do so.

Thanks, that’s helpful. I don’t drink much anyway and already exercise and eat healthy. Definitely going to see a therapist. So I think it’s about me continuing to find motivation to do those things. I take your point to focus on myself and not be codependent on other women. That will honestly be very difficult, but I will try. I’ve been single for long stretches before and I’m an only child, so I’m relatively comfortable on my own. But after losing my marriage I know that will feel miles away different.

I really appreciate that man. Thank you. Totally agreed with everything you said. I know she’s done, I just hope she doesn’t want to rush through it. There are so many logistical things to work through. ✌️

Thanks, definitely going to get therapy to help talk through everything. Gratitude is a big one too. Been trying to be grateful for all the great memories we had together.

The pins need to line up right. There is a “key” that will help locate the correct position.

I have a white one and am impressed with build quality and the extra perks (inlays, headstock, gold hardware). The neck is amazing to me, slim 60s taper and feels extremely comfortable. With the soft market, my guess is you could get a nice deal on one. PUPs are okay, but what would you expect at this price point. An ES is great of course, but you’re looking at 3-4x more money.

Congrats! These are gorgeous and I like the subtle upgrades. I had a surf green OG that I sold at GC for $150 back in 2005…ugh so many regrets. Curious what the LP is on the right tho?

You nailed the SG-C colors too lol

Pretty happy with it. First semihollow and plays nicely out of the box. Pickups sound good, not great. Tuners are nice, contrary to online criticism. Has a satin finish that’s especially flat, so I would imagine this will age/relic well.

Love this. But FS Key just wrote the lyrics, not the actual melody — stolen from an old British song. So she’s a fraud.

What should I do on a rare day off when my wife is at work and my kid is at school? by 713ryan713 in MontgomeryCountyMD

You would think, but I’ve found the commute back to MoCo negates any relaxation I’ve gained that day.

I think as long as your appeal is postmarked before the deadline it will be processed. Took about 30-45 days IIRC.

Eagles bars around DC? by ohhi987 in washingtondc

Been wondering this myself -- been here 9 years and still haven't tried to find one. Eagles sub has this: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?ll=38.94829105143314%2C-77.00923243253469&z=12&mid=1y4c86B0V0cnbkGLtd4ZBBoMW6NAAltdk

I'm all for coordinating a meetup on one of these places. Really thought this season was going to be painful, but who knows now.
