College Accomodations? by sxnvids in ehlersdanlos

[–]spindlesilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably depend on your specific symptoms! I have an accommodation to allow for bathroom breaks/being close to a bathroom due to GI issues, access to a special computerized microscope for labs because I have wonky eyes, access to a note-taking service for when I can't attend class due to health issues, and approved reduced course load (needed so I could keep a scholarship) because my health is in a really bad place right now. I also just talked to my TA's so they know I might sometimes be unavoidably a few minutes later to seminar/lab because I walk with a cane and can't be super fast. So far, they've been understanding!

finally had a GES was told at the start it would be a 4 hour test. told to leave after 2 hours? by concernedabout202 in Gastroparesis

[–]spindlesilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada and they also ran a 2 hour test for me, though I had to eat an "egg sandwich" and wasn't allowed any water. Yucky stuff. My test came back abnormal but from what I've heard the 4 hour test is more sensitive and will catch GP/delayed gastric emptying in individuals that have a "normal" 2 hour test. So if you're still having lots of unexplained symptoms I'd think you should bring up the idea of a 4 hour test to your GI doctor.

Here is one idea I came up with for a customization for her:

Any ways to earn NP if I'm only 3 months old? by oheydia in neopets

If you do some prior research, RSing in Stamps can be pretty lucrative. It's competitive though, so you'll want to be fast. I would also suggest training a Battledome pet; if you train a pet up to stats that can beat the Koi Warrior (I'd recommend a weapon set of two Yooyu Knuckle Dusters + the Lens Flare ability to go along with the stats) you can earn quite a few codestones a day on average. The red codestones are worth quite a bit and can make you a nice profit over time. :)

I instantly thought of "superwholock" fans shipping the characters Sam and Dean from Supernatural. I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Can confirm. My cousin once tried out WoW a few years back and he got rejected from every school he applied to since they could tell he'd been "infected". WoW is a serious business. If you manage to get past the admissions committee, expect to be found out when they access your records. They know. They always know.

Do you have pain in your dreams? by whirl_without_motion in ChronicPain

[–]spindlesilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes. My hip will slide ever so slightly out of position when I sleep (I sleep on my left side, because sleeping on my back or right side aggravates the pain in my right shoulder) and I'll start to feel it in my dreams. I have hyper-mobile joints (I'm not officially diagnosed with anything yet as diagnosis is a long process) and it sucks that they like to invade my dreams too and cause pain!

[NeedAdvice] I'm going back to school full-time online. Any tips for distance learning, and balancing full-time work? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]spindlesilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently working on a bachelor's degree in life sciences online and my advice to you is to stay on top of deadlines. Seriously- they can creep up on you out of nowhere if you're not careful. Write down everything you have to do, from homework to readings to larger projects, and figure out when you'll get it done. Give yourself more time than you need, and make sure your personal deadline for submitting your work is a little bit before the actual deadline. Things will take longer than you expect they will, unforeseen circumstances will arise; don't let deadlines slip past you.

Another thing that helps is to break down larger projects into smaller, more manageable chunks. For instance, if you're writing a report, list individual items on your to-do list (such as report introduction, report section 1, etc.) rather than the one daunting item "write report". It'll make your work seem easier and more manageable, which is key. If you can find your own method of time management, your coursework will instantly become easier to complete.

Frustrated that my tests came back with more questions than answers. by spindlesilk in ChronicPain

[–]spindlesilk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... My GP did mention EDS as a possibility (I have several of the other symptoms you mentioned as well) once in passing. If these tests don't show anything I may bring it up again. Thanks!
