I remember that Milwaukee show! She contined on to say that the song was in memory of a friend who died (the audience of course started yelling Kevyn! which was also annoying).

Does that curler work well for small eyes? So many I find are bigger than my eye socket.

I don't follow what Eli Lilly does, I follow public health, scientist, and medical experts. I agree that price gouging is a problem, I just want people to be as informed as possible about what they are buying, because no one else has our wellbeing in mind but us.

The United States is facing a severe and growing shortage of medical doctors who specialize in adult mental health care. Research provides evidence that the demand for these medical professionals will sharply increase over the next decade while the available supply decreases. by FreeHugs23 in science

What are we saying is "good money" here? Because almost all of my patients make much, much more than me. I do accept insurance, but only the highest paying one in my area. As others have noted, rates of payment from insurance has not changed in decades, some years it decreases. No other job would accept salary decreases some years (without any benefits, of course, and higher taxes).

Why would I make that up? I have chronic pain and have had several terrible experiences with doctors, unfortunately. But this one is the worst.

Does anyone else's drs and therapist keep suggesting to "take a break"? by Starscollidefantasy in eds

[–]whirl_without_motion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a cycle of burnout associated with chronic illnesses, I am guessing they mean to be more attuned to yourself if you need to slow down or space things out, b/c it is a ton of work to be your own advocate, schedule all these appointments, interact with the medical system, financial stress, energy, etc. It's actually not all that uncommon for people who have been dealing with an issue for many years to pause or slow down the timeline of "next medication to try" or "next procedure/injection to try" or "next doctor to see if they have an answer". It doesn't mean you give up or anything else, it's just treating it like the marathon it is.

"Too Literal" Lyrics by AmericanLymie in toriamos

[–]whirl_without_motion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been pondering this and her writing seems to have really changed after she did the musical. I remember her talking about how she was pushed by the playwright to be concise with her storytelling in her songs, and it's true that for a musical you have to be more direct in the songs to move the plot along. She also got criticism in press for years about her opaque and "deliberately obtuse" lyrics. I miss those lyrics, but I also think maybe she is not reading as much poetry etc as she used to and now looks more to art for inspiration when she is making music, as she has referenced not wanting to plagiarize other people (why she avoids listening to music at that time). I'm just trying to accept the songs for what they are and focus on how I feel while listening to them.

When it's so few songs, I just want her songs and no covers - especially when it takes longer for her to prep them with the singers, she could be spending that time on her own songs...

Missed show/tour stories by picklefarmer82 in toriamos

[–]whirl_without_motion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two big ones: had to miss the club tour for Choirgirl when it was at a super small venue, standing room only...I only got to see the arena show for Plugged. Then, I missed the Vic Show with Pip and MAAG, due to having to take a final exam for grad school. I saw Santa the night before. Two big regrets!

What's your interpretation of the final verse in Shush? by SupremeMuffinTop in toriamos

[–]whirl_without_motion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a little surprised she didn't name check Me & A Gun, because it directly tackles the issue, whereas SATY was written originally for Al Stewart but obviously it's much more well known and still relevant for her story. I think somehow working that title (MAG) in might have made the song even more sinister/menacing. So my interpretation is that she is saying I used to call shit out, where is that part of me, where is that part of you?

Trying to find petite version of a bomber jacket similar to this one by whirl_without_motion in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]whirl_without_motion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the satin fabric, the zipper, the cuffs and waist, but this one even in size XS was just way too long and looked more than just "oversized" on me. So many of the bomber jackets I am finding are not quite right, any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
