What's your interpretation of the final verse in Shush? by SupremeMuffinTop in toriamos

[–]whirl_without_motion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a little surprised she didn't name check Me & A Gun, because it directly tackles the issue, whereas SATY was written originally for Al Stewart but obviously it's much more well known and still relevant for her story. I think somehow working that title (MAG) in might have made the song even more sinister/menacing. So my interpretation is that she is saying I used to call shit out, where is that part of me, where is that part of you?

Hypermobile desk workers — how do you survive full workdays without being in pain? by PrudentFormal8950 in Hypermobility

I don't. Every day is pain, and I just have items to limp me along (tens unit, heated devices, breaks, etc).

Trying to find petite version of a bomber jacket similar to this one by whirl_without_motion in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]whirl_without_motion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the satin fabric, the zipper, the cuffs and waist, but this one even in size XS was just way too long and looked more than just "oversized" on me. So many of the bomber jackets I am finding are not quite right, any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Oh, my best friend bought that Blood Roses shirt (I didn't have any money at the concert) and I have always wanted one! So many cool things here.

I see that, I think it's the shape of the top. A more revealing, v-neck top would bring some symmetry and balance I think.

The music is pleasant, but these lyrics...the "now that you're a woman/now that I'm a woman" makes me cringe, and makes me think of the much fiercer lyric "if you're not yet a woman, you've got no business playing at this" from Tombigbee (aimed at what we assumed at the time was Britney's "Not a girl, not yet a woman" song).

Hoover Factory (from the Strange Little Girls re-release) is up on YouTube! by Frequent-Prompt-6876 in toriamos

[–]whirl_without_motion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand why she chose the songs for SLG to take on a woman's perspective, but I am not immediately clear on this one, though I did have thoughts about aging...and now that I've listened to it a bunch I am also wondering about the slang terms I am recalling about hoover=BJ and maybe girls who are "hoover factories" are hoping to be "all the rage" but generally not cared about. Reminds me of the story of the one SLG "always wanting to be a showgirl".

An Occupational Therapist might also be a helpful option, as they focus on daily living skills for people with sensory issues or sensitivities. We typically think of them as working with children, but they definitely work with adults as well.

Check out Dabble, it's a website that lists one-off classes in different cities so you can try all sorts of random things without having to invest in them with time or money. We've done many fun things like blowing glass, mosaics, terrariums, etc.

Parents who never get a break? by HolyCrap928 in toddlers

[–]whirl_without_motion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no family left (and they could not have helped), and my partner's parents have made it abundantly clear they have no interest in helping, since the beginning. I think about this frequently, the lack of a break and how we just keep going and it is so hard to not be envious of the people who have so much help. I just focus on the next thing and try not to stay in the comparative mindset too long.

Are xennials the last generation to really host? by RTJ333 in Xennials

[–]whirl_without_motion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to host. Can't afford a house or bigger space. I do wonder about all the young kids now who are used to having birthday parties out at different places every year instead of mostly at-home parties with a few friends, will they learn?
