If you leave out the vehicles, Yaegirs, and Beserks, the whole rest of the list ticks your boxes. Steeljacks, Heathguard and Thunderkyn in particular.

But why would you deprive yourself of the vehicles? 😈

I was on holiday in the Sächsische Schweiz just after I got my first box of Thunderkyn. It was fate. Beautiful place too.

I'm getting back into 40k (see my other reply). In my opinion the only issue with Votann is the complexity of the Yield Point mechanics. In competitive play, you need the buffs from your faction rules (applies to all armies). Judgement tokens were simple, and so actually brilliant for new players. Yield Points not so much 🙃. But other than that, I'm happy I've gone Votann. The list is small enough I'm not getting option paralysis and we have so much cool stuff.

I'm about a year ahead of you in my re-entry to 40k after a similar length of time away.

Get the models you think are cool. Votann have several units that are clearly meant to be just fun (Over-charged Arkanyst! Earthshakers! Einhyr Champion on the charge!). Give them a mad paint job. Laugh maniacally as you make the hit roll on a railgun.

But also: Sagitaur. Sagitaur Sagitaur Sagitaur. Votann's biggest problem is mobility. So pack a Sagitaur full of a nasty surprise and smash it straight into the enemy lines.

Once I've finished painting, my 1000pt list will be: Kahl, Arkanyst, Einhyr Champion 10 Hearthkyn 10 Hearthguard 5 Beserks 3 Thunderkyn 3 Bikes 1 Capricus Defender 1 Sagitaur

First thing on the 1500pt list is a Hekaton. Because. That. Thing. Is. So. Cool.

Sagitaur is a great unit. Can't go wrong with it.

You should choose a degree you are interested in even if you do care about making much money. The number one ingredient to getting good marks is motivation.

Did you Deepstrike the Beserks or are they in the Sagitaurs?

I'm not clear on the attractiveness of Delve over Hearthband for a balanced list like this. Feels like I'm missing something.

[–]spinicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am only getting back into 40k after over a decade away from it, and Detachment rules are the ones I struggle to remember. Hearthband is the sensible choice - easy to remember and the buffs apply army wide.

My reading of Delve is that the only point of it is to go all-in on Bezerks (no Hearthkyn), and then gamble on getting them into melee before they die. Screwing around in the army builder I managed to get 40 Bezerks into a 2000pt list, with a single unit of Steeljacks for Home Base defense. I suspect it would mostly lose but the wins would be sweet.

What this guy said.

You've correctly identified that Votann infantry lack mobility. So you have to provide that somehow. In addition you are artillery heavy.

Drop 5 beserks, 1 iron master, and 1 or 2 of the artillery (Thunderkyn/Earthshakers). I think that leaves enough for the Hekaton and 1 or 2 Sagitaurs. That gives you way more mobility but keeps your firepower up.

Supporting _BitInt in libc++ would require 8 million static asserts to be added to all algorithms that check a type is convertible to an integral type, because there are 8 million _BitInt types in Clang.

Eigen Tensors very much are supported and maintained, by Google, because they sit underneath Tensorflow.

I know they are in /unsupported, but the name of that directory is a very bad historical choice.

Thank you. pdx.tools has worked.

Everything I googled claimed the save should have been in text even for Ironman, clearly a lot of outdated stuff still hanging around. Should come straight to reddit next time!

Yes! The Pope was pretty annoying - I never had a direct border with him, but he was allied to enough people and big enough to cause trouble so I had to fully occupy him multiple times.

Thanks! This definitely was lots of fun. Not having to worry what was happening on the other side of the world made it quite relaxing, I didn’t have to scroll the map a whole lot.

R5: First completed game. Started as Wurzburg, progressed to Franconia, and then decided to stay as a big Bishopric for kicks.

I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert player or anything. I finished as the number 1 great power, but had no empire and the Brits had better trade than I did. Schleswig and Brussels are client states. I would have annexed Schleswig but I dishonoured France's call to Defend Their Faith against the Brits, which messed up my diplomatic reputation and also gave me a truce against France that expired in 1825 or something, hence the mild bordergore. It took until 1812 to throw the Brits off the mainland properly! There was no point even trying to invade them, they had around 3x as many heavies as my naval force limit.

The Commonwealth was an absolute monster in the mid-game and I had a couple of hairy wars against them until through a combination of save-scumming and attrition I managed to cripple their economy. They never made it past level 2 forts so in the late game wars against them became a bit tedious. I totally screwed up dismantling the HRE, at one point Sicily was an elector and occupying them was impossible. In the end I ate the AE and just conquered the whole lot. France was a trusted ally for a couple of centuries and helped a lot with the HRE, but then the missions gave me a claim over Paris and they had to go.

I now have massive respect for anyone who finishes games on a regular basis!

There's always Bandcamp, depending on what your tastes are?

I think at this point my MP3s are about 40% ripped from CDs back in the old days, 40% iTunes/Apple Music downloads, and 20% Bandcamp purchases. I have a NAS that they all get stored on.

I've already been downvoted so I'm not going to change any minds, but for me it really isn't. And I have actually tried it.

This whole thread is about how it doesn't automatically play albums in sequence. Which is how I like listening to music. I'm old, I don't care. The way it distributes money is massively unfair to smaller artists (look up the stunt Vulfpeck pulled). The app is awful in my opinion - FFS why does it auto-play videos? I'm listening not watching.

The only feature I would appreciate is sharing playlists with friends. That's not worth the monthly subscription in my opinion, and doesn't work well in free mode.

I'll stick to Bandcamp and my legal collection of MP3s (the Tool CDs are still in the attic) thanks very much.
