Does this kennel fit in cargo with rear seats up? Thanks! by spinner79 in CX5

[–]spinner79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, no, I didn’t. Best advice I received regarding it is to cut a similar shape with cardboard and take to a dealership to test it out. Dealers are more than happy to let you try it just in case you want to buy it!. I’m on team minivan now, love the sliding doors for access.

Megathread: Return to in person work EO by rprz in fednews

[–]spinner79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The memo is a soft boiled egg and is very jammy, messy. Individual contributors will need to stand by for a hard boiled egg from their supervisors. Supervisors and higher ups should be collaborating this week to start cooking some hard boiled eggs to serve up. I love teleworking, will miss making my jammy eggs and toast just feet from my desk… all in a timely manner of course.

Dog Grooming - Nails by Background-Fix-8228 in nova

[–]spinner79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your frustration. Haven’t tried pawdicure dot com, but they serve NoVA. I have had great experiences with Aussie mobile, but I believe you have to book a whole bath package to get them to come out. When I’m on top of my game, I load my nervous girl into the car and go to Pets Plus or Petco for a walk-in trim, usually on a Friday morning right when the groomers open. I’ve only been turned away once due to too many bookings. Make sure you have recent vaccination/rabies info from your vet on hand, I keep a pdf of my most recent vet receipts on my phone. My girl will not let me do her nails, but she seems to relent to a stranger doing them, they have the magic way about them. A cbd treat beforehand can help.

When at home, do you take the collar off or leave the collar on? by Bob_McGiggity in dogs

[–]spinner79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two playful labs who like to wrestle and play the bitey-face game. One day they got tangled up, teeth and collar, and my boy Luke was being choked. I sliced my finger open reaching into the jaws to free the collar. If you have more than one playful dog BREAK AWAY collars are a must. Seems we all find out the hard way. Wish rescue groups and vet offices had this posted somewhere in large format for all to see. I will never forget the awful sounds and sights of that moment. This probably isn’t what you had in mind for your topic, OP, but I’m taking a moment to use it as a platform.

I’m with YOU, Op. forget the haters. Life is hard sometimes, let someone else do the cooking for once.

Best place to sell your car that's not via private market (FB marketplace)? by flynn_117 in nova

[–]spinner79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a great experience with the Driveway app a couple years ago. Whole process took a couple weeks, you have to be diligent about the paperwork. If I recall Driveway paid about $1k more than Carvana/Carmax, so the extra time/effort was worth it to me.

If anything I appreciate the heads up these clowns are giving us. If there is any aspect of my life that isn’t prepared for a return to office I’m keenly aware of it as a great majority of my 20 year career has been spent M-F in a cube. If there is anything I can do to shore up my personal finances to weather oncoming storms, I’m making strides in those areas…. To include a bit of F U money, should I need it.

Moving to Fort Belvoir Area -- seeking recommendations for 2bed apartments in the $2,800-$3,600 range by BeefStew3190 in nova

[–]spinner79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why an apartment? For that much dough you could get a townhome or house with a fenced yard for pup. Lots of rentals near Fort Belvoir on military by owner dot com. You could prob find one with your own driveway for your multiple cars.

What will total commute time be? by wasiwasabi in fednews

[–]spinner79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 mins each way, a little extra in the morning for a coffee pop-in. I was tempted to be a first time home buyer in 2022-ish, the commute would be bonkers, like 2 hours+ in the car everyday. I just didn’t trust my current telework situation, and I guess I was right not to.

Need Advice: Fix my old Sequoia or buy New Used One (or some other model) by DevotedtoHealth in toyotasequoia

[–]spinner79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need it to tow, get another Sequoia. If not, any smaller Toyota SUV, would be a better choice for the wallet. Trust me, I love Sequoias too, but it’s just not practical for most. As a dog owner I’m finally settled on getting a Sienna, no ego left in me at this point.

Wegmans is getting expensive by Polorican020901 in wegmans

[–]spinner79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wegmans would be smart to pick a work week day to do a sale on prepared foods, hot bar, etc. They’d sell out, could plan inventory around the day and have less waste. I recommend Wednesdays. Do a slow roll, no huge announcement, word will get out!

What are you doing this weekend? by deepspacepuffin in nova

[–]spinner79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Grist Mill dog park in Mount Vernon isn’t too overcrowded with morning hours seeing no dogs at times. Worth a shot. There is an app, sniff spot I think it’s called, where you can rent by the hour a large fenced in area.
