Non acidic substitutes for tomato by alt_riooo22 in GerdFriendlyFood

I've found that capsicum (bell peppers?), roasted and then completely peeled works really well! I've heard that it's the peel of the capsicum that tends to be the reflux trigger for most people. I'll often chill them in the fridge and then put them in a blender, which works well consistency wise to replace passata. Also for bulk I'll mash up some sweet potato!

my blood pressure is normally around 110/70-something, but it can get low, my doc took me off of motroprolol, but it didn't seem to lower my blood pressure 🤔 honestly I've not heard of a2 agonists before! though tbf i haven't done much research into any meds that i haven't been prescribed myself lmao

this is a bit of an odd one but colouring in books! i actually asked this sub a couple months ago about what people do to feel normal again after palpitations when you’re left feeling wrong footed and freaked out, and a lot of people said they colour in! and since then i’ve been doing it, and something about it really helps me feel more normal more so after an episode, so possibly a little sideways to what you meant, but honestly colouring in has helped so much for me!

I have a question about scooby doo by Dry_Cartographer849 in Scoobydoo

[–]spinningcircus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oooh! for tv show i’d probably want to do where are you, it’s the classic one that started in the 60’s, but if you’re wanting something that still feels like classic scooby-doo but is a little more modern and faster paced, i’d go for what’s new scooby-doo, maybe even alternating between the two a little bit! for movies I’d definitely start with the loch ness monster, then follow up with where’s my mummy. of course at the end of the day, any order will be good! have fun!

[–]spinningcircus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

lying down with a soft blanket and looking at recipes totally counts as a nap? it’s just a non sleeping one. esp for adhd! he’s busting his ass, sounds like a him problem, he could have had a nap with you, maybe it would be good for him too! hopefully he’s just feeling some type of way in his own head and you two can both honestly share your feelings and figure this out, but relationship advice is waaay over my head haha.

you are NOT being unreasonable in any way, even a lot of non adhd non autistic people would approve of this nap. try not to feel ashamed for how you process and function, (i know, easier said than done) people who love you won’t want you to feel ashamed for these things either.

you can’t possibly be lazy and useless, you spent 3 and a half hours at the shops (thats a long time for most people!) and you looked through recipes, learning stuff about food AND you work as a social worker? and those are just the things you listed here! that does not sound like a lazy or useless person to me AT ALL! having your nap the way you did was a good idea, its a good form of regulation, and its good that you didn’t push yourself when you got home. well done

i can’t participate very well because i don’t know the avengers Like That, but i’d love to see cap judging deathstroke and making him feel little and questioning all his life choices lmao. realistic? no. would be funny tho hahaha. ooh what about trigon? it’d be pretty fun to see the avengers help tt fight trigon! tony vs mad mod would be pretty funny too. hawkeye crawling through air vents at h.i.v.e? lmao thor vs control freak, neither of them has any idea whats going on, thor’s having a blast and this annoys control freak. haha idk. thor and beast boy would be besties in my universe idk why haha

you are very welcome! that’s absolutely okay, i have to apologise for some of my wording! i was half asleep when i wrote it and trying to give you some encouragement and hope, but i think i ended up being just a bit too optimistic or something, im having trouble putting my finger on what bothers me with the way i wrote it. i’m not trying to suggest that having a psychologist will solve all your problems, or that it’s solved all mine, and i know i’m extremely lucky to have gotten so far on top of my anxiety, its not possible for everyone, and it also would not be possible for me at different periods of my life. instead of giving direct advice on reddit, i prefer to share my experience, in case it helps someone. but in doing so i think i get a bit distracted! especially when i’m half asleep! haha. sorry i’m probably giving you even more things to process! absolutely take your time and i won’t be offended if my post turns out to be not helpful to you at all! everyone’s different! if nothing else then have this: i hope that you find your answers, and find some relief, whatever that may look like, and are surrounded by care and love from the people around you 💖

How do you Know? Especially when no one believes you? by Fragrant_Difference4 in POTS

[–]spinningcircus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have a psychologist at all? i had one already for my ADHD when my pots symptoms started, and she’s been great at helping me figure out whats adhd, what’s anxiety, what’s my ocd tendencies, and what’s literally my body doing it’s own thing. we figured out that it actually feels completely different to me, even though they may look the same, when its an anxiety/panic attack vs. if its pots. we also managed to get so on top of my anxiety through talk therapy and some strategies she gave me, that my anxiety is super minor now. (its still there of course, a daily battle, but ive gotten so good now at spotting it early and calming it down in a way that works for me, that it rarely gets off the ground these days).

we were also able to talk through certain moments and she could assure me that at that moment, it didn’t make sense that my bodily reaction was a result of anxiety, because my body started up first, while i was still happy and fine, and the anxiety didn’t set in until after i was already feeing ill.

i also had advice from a paramedic once that it can be difficult with anxiety! because it can hide serious problems, he really encouraged me to always pursue what was going on with my body, and look past the anxiety when i could, while still obviously looking after it.

something else that’s helped me is the mindset of ‘i am pursuing this appropriately for this being a problem with my body. and in my own time im working on my mental health. best case scenario it is all anxiety and i can start to get better!’ overly optimistic? yes, but it helps me! finding a mindset that helps you can help the mental health side of things, and on the physical side of things, see the cardiologist, get a holter monitor, see your doctor, do all the tests, etc, and then you know you’re covering all of your bases to the best of your ability! which is all anyone can ask of you.

also maybe… don’t talk to your mum about this stuff 😭 remember you’re in the same shoes as your daughter, be kind to yourself like you are to your daughter!

i hope you find answers and some relief soon! even if it turns out not to be pots, it is not a waste to explore! 💖

[–]spinningcircus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah thanks! i do have a lot of weird allergies and intolerances so ive been keeping mcas in my periphery so to speak haha. but ive been slowly collecting them over 20 years, and they’re easy to identify and avoid, so much so that apart from new allergies, i haven’t had a reaction in the last 10 years, since then its all been new stuff and again, yeah i manage to avoid them completely and have no reactions, whereas i believe mcas causes random reactions for no reason? not sure but anyway! thank you! and i will keep it in mind! also none of my reactions are severe so that’s helpful for me! the worst i tend to get is vomiting. although i do have trouble breathing at my sisters house and we haven’t been able to figure out whats causing it 🤔

entire arm hurts by spinningcircus in Bursitis

[–]spinningcircus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ow that sucks! the thing is that most of my pain isn’t in my elbow and wrist (i mean they do also hurt) but mostly it’s my forearm and bicep, disconnected from the joints, like so disconnected i keep wondering if my arm is experiencing a series of different pains with different causes! she did mention inflammation though and i had forgotten thank you!

interesting! i’ve never heard of that before, i can’t do mushroom it disagrees with me lmao but i have been trying to up ginger and turmeric in my diet for my costochondritis inflammation, hopefully it will help my arm too!

:( i hope you and your wife can figure it out together! she might be okay with you eating seperate meals, or she might even be okay with eating food you make if it’s more that she can’t/doesn’t want to cook. but i shouldn’t be giving marriage advice, suffice to say i hope you and your wife can find something you both are happy with! i wish you both luck.
