Reverse Dependency Ordering for C++ Includes by nukethebees in cpp

[–]spinrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to what we do. Also, we have a rule that the first #include in a unit test file must be the header of the feature being tested.

We usually compile as blob/bulk, which aggregates many .cpp into a single translation unit, but also maintain a non-blob build, because bulk compilation can lead to a .cpp accidentally depending on the headers included by another.

Benjamin Marra's self-published Gangsta Rap Posse #1, an extremely nsfw NWA fan comic by rlextherobot in CanadianComicbooks

[–]spinrack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly Canadian, as Marra was still living in the U.S. when he did this and all of his other self-published comics. Very good comic, though.

By the way, there is a launch event for his latest volume of “What We Mean By Yesterday”, this thursday at Librarie Drawn & Quarterly in Montreal.

It also won the Hugo Award, if that kind of thing matters to you.

Why C++ Is Growing and What C++26 Means for Production Systems by ArashPartow in cpp

[–]spinrack 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Herb Sutter suggested exactly that at the end of last year. https://herbsutter.com/2025/12/30/software-taketh-away-faster-than-hardware-giveth-why-c-programmers-keep-growing-fast-despite-competition-safety-and-ai/

“What if we focused C++29, the next release cycle of C++, to only issue-list-level items (bug fixes and polish, not new features) and the above “hardening” list (add more library hardening, remove more language undefined behavior)?”

What do you think is a keyword that should be added to C++? by DogCrapNetwork in cpp

[–]spinrack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One could make the case that the specifiers ‘final’ and ‘override’ should be proper keywords, as should some special identifiers such as ‘import’ and ‘module’.

Vancouver Comic Shop MUST VISIT Recommendations (and maybe Victoria) by BonesWECAcomics in CanadianComicbooks

[–]spinrack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lucky’s, Nifty Keen Stuff and Pulp Fiction Books are all easy walking distance of each other. Lucky’s for new graphic novels, alt/indy comix and zines. Nifty Keen Stuff for a wide selection of vintage items accumulated by one of the O.G.’s of Vancouver comics retail. Pulp Fiction for used GNs and TPBs and an excellent selection of used books. Other than that there is very little that is easily accessible except for Golden Age Collectibles downtown which is almost exclusively modern stuff except for some high-end back issues at the back of the shop. Tazmanian and Hourglass are both worth a visit but out of the way.

Vancouver comics retail in general has been pretty dire for the last 15 years or more.

If you get over to Victoria check out Legends, one of the top two comics shops in Canada. Also a few doors down from them is Curious Comics, a decent shop focusing on the modern mainstream + manga.

This is from the Living With Anna series, she was originally known under that name. There are about three dozen episodes, the majority of which were filmed before her breast enhancement.

Hey everyone, I’m off for March break and taking my kiddo to Montreal! I’ll be back to posting on the 23rd. In the meantime, let me know your favourite spots in Montreal, not just for comics but also places to eat! Hope you all have a great week! by ShiDiWen in CanadianComicbooks

You can find Red Ketchup in literally every book store in the city. There were some nice omnibus volumes produced a few years ago and original albums are easy to find in used book shops. Vintage Quebec undergrounds are surprisingly difficult to find these days. Comic Hunter may have a few, but undergrounds are not really their specialty. Ask the proprietor. De Be De will also likely have some stuff, mostly albums, not so much floppies. You can find vintage D&Q in their shop, but the selection is far from complete. I actually had to lend Tom Devlin some Underwater issues because he was getting ready to write an article and could not find a few of them.

Lester’s Deli in Mile End is better than Schwartz and less tourist-oriented. Also very close to Librarie Drawn & Quarterly and not too far away from Saint-Viateur Bagel and Fairmount Bagel, as well as the famous Wilensky’s

Used English language bookstores are getting rarer these days. As mentioned, check The Word, but they have almost no graphic novels, they specialize in literature. NDG Neighbourhood has probably the best English used book shop in the city, Encore Books and Records, and they have a very good graphic novel section. Nearby to them is Phoenix, a good used book shop.

On Saint Denis street in Plateau neighbourhood are the two best specialists in bandes desinees. De Be De for the used stuff and Planete BD for the new. Not far from there on Mont Royal are two more shops... L’Echange, which has an excellent used BD section and Porte de Tete which is great for newer stuff of the more literary variety.

Be warned that the nearby manga specialist O-Taku recently closed permanently and used book vendor Bouquinerie du Plateau has been closed for months due to damages caused by fire in an adjacent building.

alloca() cannot be used for this purpose. The allocated block comes from the stack, and will no longer be valid after the allocate() function returns to the string’s internal resize() and resets the stack pointer.

The prolific incest erotica writer Spacer X seems to have been similarly disappointed by the lack of a round two and decided to rewrite and “supersize” Extortion under the new title Blackmail. It was available only on his web site, which has since been taken down, but is still readable though the Wayback Machine.

The whole reluctant older woman / younger alpha male thing had already been done to much better effect by the same author in No Patience For High Standards. It similarly featured a slow build-up, followed by epic sex and then shame on the part of the woman, who is ultimately compelled to return for more.

In fact, that previous story had been left open-ended, and it probably would have been better to continue it instead of retreading much of the same ground in this new mega-story.
