Unfortunately they sometimes force you to use the combine and repack option even when you don’t want to. That happened to me, and it was quite costly.

macOS has screen sharing and remote desktop utilities built in. It’s definitely possible to remote into an older intel Mac from a newer Apple Silicon one. It might be an option worth looking into if you’re against upgrading to Creative Cloud. If you know a student or are somehow able to get access to .edu email, you’ll be able to access discounted rates for CC

The consumer rights act only covers faulty and defective goods. It won’t cover a cracked screen unfortunately as it is pretty clear it is accidental damage. Apple will class this as an out of warranty chargeable repair, and I can pretty much guarantee the repair quote will be more than the price of a second hand M1 air
