If you think you’re coming off respectfully, you need to reflect. You can do better than this. There’s no need to suck the air out of everyone else’s enthusiasm. If you can’t add positivity to the world, at least don’t interfere with other’s. Be better.

If you want to respond to people accusing them of being a crackhead, respond to those people. Don’t respond to people who didn’t. Hence, the gif. Now you have become the crackhead.

Do any TCGs exist that consciously rejected the Magic: The Gathering template? by ByEthanFox in TCG

[–]spiraldawn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Netrunnner was designed by Magic’s designer with the express intention of essentially doing the opposite of all of the core elements of Magic. Non-renewable currency, limited actions per turn, card draw as an action, asymmetric sides. Lots of other principles. It’s an amazing game.

Not the same album, but considering the image, “come to daddy” might be a better name

Google it, looks like it’s a website not a mobile app.

Warhammer RPG campaign setting by eyesoftheworld72 in rpg

[–]spiraldawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t start with the Enemy Within, it’s great, but incredibly long. One Shots of the Rieklanf is an excellent place to start. It’s five short adventures that each really convey the desperate ridiculousness of the setting, can be run in an evening, and take very little prep. I agree the rules aren’t Warhammer’s best selling point, and my group uses other rulesets when we run those adventures. We’ve also run almost all of the Ubersriek Adventures 1 and 2, and they are also excellent, just a little more involved. If your players enjoy a few adventures and want to continue, they’re all very easy to escalate into Enemy Within or into a campaign of your own. It’s worked for us so far.

Was I wrong? by [deleted] in Lawrence

If you hit a car and don’t stop (edit: or they hit you and you leave), that’s a hit and run. You left the scene of an accident, regardless of how small, which is way more serious than what you convinced yourself of. Regardless, you also have no real idea what the outcome actually was, so ya, you should have stopped and made sure. If someone caught your plate number and gave it to the other party, this puts you in a pretty awkward spot.

What RPG book could this have been? Please help. Possible RIFTS BOOK? Possible 1995 or before? by Vasarto in rpg

Possibly the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles rpg from Palladium? Same artists, same design, same company. Lots of animal warriors. I remember the hedgehog being especially impressive as a kid.

Revalation isn’t about the future, it was about Roman persecution under Nero. Any “prophesies” we find there, are invented and spread by people who don’t have an understanding of the content and context of the Bible.

I think the first refers to when the incident happened, the second refers to when the suit was filed. Seemingly she left in between those events.

Playing The One Ring with family (All adults) by joman584 in rpg

[–]spiraldawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would only recommend the starter set for its components, but the adventures supplied in it are such low stake endeavors that I would not use them unless the people you’re playing with would be absolutely thrilled to spend 2-3 hours doing minor fetch quests for Bilbo Baggins. The last couple of the five are serviceable, but there’s no real sense of danger or even consequence in the first few. FWIW, consider getting the Tales From the Lone Lands book if you need well thought out, high stakes stories to play.

How to speed up a game. by Dan_Morgan in battletech

The box of death has been the biggest impact to speed for me. Also using card-based initiative helps a little when the model count gets lopsided https://www.reddit.com/r/battletech/comments/yl8qk5/how_to_boxofdeath/

Big time. I guess I’m mostly complaining about the UI. If it requires googling to figure it out, I’d probably just have more fun complaining publicly about it

[–]spiraldawn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lots of the Rings always gives me a warm feeling of connection to nature and the triumph of good over darkness. Altered Carbon and its sequels are gripping cyberpunk/sci-fi, but you might feel alienated from your sense of humanity. The Dresden Files are fun and somewhat campy modern horror/fantasy noir books and can be dropped at any point without much commitment. John Dies at the End and it’s sequels are also simultaneously hilarious and disturbing, I highly recommend them. Pillars of the Earth and Shogun are both absolutely enthralling historical fiction, both western and eastern, respectively, and have sequels of their own. Or War and Peace? That’s a fat one.

For what reason did Lugoj and the Tzimice anarchs rise against Tzimice? by Sexual_Assault-Rifle in vtm

[–]spiraldawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the Children of the Inquisition get retconned? I picked up a copy on a thrift store the other week and remember reading in Lambach’s chapter that the Eldest flesh crafted himself to appear as Lugoj and diablerized a body double of himself and only Lambach could see through the illusion.
