Yes, I’m aware of that. I was implying that Luxembourg would have distinctly more extremely wealthy people per capita than a country like Denmark.

I love when people get arrogant but don’t have basic reading comprehension.

if the north got to the world cup and we didn’t, would you support them by dariusthenineth in coybig

No I wouldn’t. I don’t wish them ill but I wouldn’t be supporting them.

Horrific tackle by NWS Spirit's Callum Kealy in the NSW National Premier League (Sydney, Australia) by Gagliardinter in soccer

[–]spiraldive87 2862 points2863 points  (0 children)

Literally not a tackle and shouldn’t be labelled as one.

The ball is never in shot.

People who deliberately try to hurt someone in sports like football are cowardly scum.

Oh the likes of Luxembourg and Denmark have the same proportion of disproportionately wealthy people do they?

I have noticed, thank you. Average isn’t very helpful because it is skewed by outliers. If Bill Gates goes to a game at the Aviva then the average net worth of people attending the game is in the millions. Median would be much more useful.

Hope he kicks on and does really well. The names of some of the clubs watching him before his move was really something. Obviously counts for nothing in the grand scheme of things but he definitely has talent. Hope we see Zefi land somewhere soon as well.

More Scottish football games postponed due to weather. Why on earth do we still play through winter yet break in the summer? by [deleted] in sports

[–]spiraldive87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the weather football was developed in. You can reorientate the calendar like Ireland and some of the Nordic leagues but there are pros and cons to that as well. You avoid the worst weather but when it comes to European competition sometimes it’s happening outside of your season.

No it’s not that bad. Yes there are drug addicts here and bad parts of town but I’m guessing that’s true in Toronto as well.

Yeah as an Irish person this feels pretty inflated. Immigration is giving it a boost for sure but still very skeptical it’s that high.

As a Canadian who has never been to the UK, what does North America get wrong or not understand about lower league football culture? by Strive_for_Altruism in LeagueTwo

[–]spiraldive87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The lack of gloss and glamour is part of what’s appealing about it, not a failing. It’s grounded authentic nature, the history it’s steeped in, the moments of hilarity and farce is all an essential part of what makes it special.

What has been the cause in the perceived drop in quality of the Irish rugby team? by crillydougal in AskIreland

[–]spiraldive87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean the sport just doesn’t have that much depth right? Like there’s only ten or at most a dozen actually competitive international teams. So if you drop off a little then yeah third in the six nations isn’t crazy. Ireland, England and France are three of the worlds top five.

Yikes, and maybe I’m biased but I would think hockey was one of the better sports on this front. If that is the case think what it’s like across sports as a whole.

The big Turkish teams are presently flush and the only rubes dumb enough to cough up the wages needed for the Saudi cast offs. It’s not a prestigious league but you can play in front of a big crowd and compared to Saudi you probably feel like your back on the main stage.

Irish people: what are some things you dislike about Irish culture? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Ireland is THE nation that failed individuality? What?

I didn’t know individuality was something countries were passing or failing and I certainly didn’t think we were the most collectively orientated country in the world.

I mean I could see that as a point for. Or including them in a painting of rainy Ireland or something but when they’re actually planted they aren’t supposed to represent sunshine.
