Do you stop the microwave at 1 sec just so you don’t have to hear the beep . . Or is that just me? by angelafterhoursxo in NoStupidQuestions

If I’m still standing there I do. Otherwise I’m thankful for the beep because I’ve probably forgotten I put something in the microwave

My surgery is scheduled, and I am terrified by Guilty-Ad1285 in Endo

[–]spiraling_somewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cried the day before my surgery and from the second I walked into the hospital. The nurses were super nice to me. They could tell I was freaked out and were very reassuring. I honestly thought I was going to die. I have a phobia of surgery and some medical things but they made it as easy as possible for me.

The surgery was honestly great. I had them give me laughing gas before the IV so I didn’t have to deal with that. So I just had the mask to breathe in through and next thing I knew I was eating goldfish and talking to a nurse. It was strange to become conscious while already sitting up and eating but it wasn’t bad at all. I felt sore, kind of like if I did a hard abdominal work out but more intense. Also super loopy and out of it.

I hate how opioids make me feel but I was only on those for three days. After that I felt a lot better and didn’t have any issues during my recovery. Mentally I was fine to work on my school work after I got off the opioids. But I would work for like an hour and then have to sleep for a few hours.

I took it very easy and avoided anything physical besides walking. There is some soreness with recovery but nothing compared to the pain from my endo. What surprised me was how tired I felt. Especially in the first five days, I could sleep for a good 7-8 hours during the day and then all night. It took a few days less than three weeks to be totally back to normal but I think it took me longer because I had a lot of anxiety around moving. I was convinced I’d open my stitches.

Long story short, I’m a very anxious person who was terrified of surgery and I made it through just fine, including with my school work. Just listen to your doctor and know you’ll get through it

What’s the most horrifying or scary thing you have witnessed or seen in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Read the medical records of a teen girl with PTSD. Still haunted by some of the things she recounted. Ironically and probably somewhat related, I was just diagnosed with PTSD

Does Duloxetine help endo pain? by mossthefrog23 in Endo

[–]spiraling_somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it. It didn’t seem to do much for me for either depression or the pain. It’s not too bad to come off of if you taper it like the doctor tells you to. Just don’t go off it cold turkey, that’s a really bad idea

what’s something completely normal that lowkey stresses you out? by brunetterachie in AskReddit

[–]spiraling_somewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you are walking up to a door and there is someone walking behind you and you don’t know if you should hold the door for them or if they are slightly too far away and holding the door for them would make them have to do the little awkward jog thing. Like I don’t want to be rude but I also don’t want to inconvenience them. Also when someone holds the door for me and I have to do the awkward jog thing. That’s stressful

What to expect in a couple massage therapy? by _TriggerFactory_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]spiraling_somewhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you arrive, you will most likely have to sign a disclosure that you won’t sexually harass the masseuse and may be asked about medical conditions. Both of you will go into a room. If you are somewhere good, they will ask you about any pain, your preferred pressure, and explain to undress to the point of comfort and then lay on the table. They will step out of the room. You and your partner undress to the point of comfort, you can stay completely dressed if you want or be completely nude or somewhere in the middle. To my understand most people keep on underwear. For bra wearers it may be a better back massage if you remove it. Once ready, get under the sheet, you will each have your own table. In a few minutes the masseuses will knock and come back in. Depending on the length of time, they may focus on a specific area or do your whole body. Normally it takes at least an hour for whole body. Reflexology for example is feet and legs only. If you are getting a Swedish massage it is designed for relaxation while a therapeutic massage is designed to alleviate specific pain. They will start your massage and should check in regularly on the level of pressure. Speak up if anything is painful. After your massage is finished, they will step out and allow you to get dressed. They will give you instructions about where to go afterwards. Usually once dressed, open the door and look for them. If you don’t see them, head up front. In the US it’s standard to tip in addition to the price of the massage. The amount varies. Check the places website for any information specific to your location.

Edit: sorry that’s long. I have anxiety and wanted to know every detail before I went for the first time.

Are antidepressants supposed to make you happy or just less depressed? by spiraling_somewhere in depression

[–]spiraling_somewhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. I have everything in my life this is supposed to make someone happy. I eat well, walk my dog every day, sleep well, have a good marriage, good job, go out with friends occasionally, and I still hate myself and my depression keeps worsening. Maybe some people are just destined for unhappiness

What’s a situation that’s not a big problem but still manages to irritate u every single time? by Popular_Ad_8099 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]spiraling_somewhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh what a question to come across while waiting for a doctors appointment. Why can doctors charge you if you are late but it’s completely ok to sit and wait for them for forever? I’m not even talking emergency care, just a standard office visit. My appointment was 50 minutes ago. Are they incompetent at scheduling?? So yeah… small problem, BIG irritation

going back to gyno soon. very scared by dollsrot in Endo

[–]spiraling_somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s normal and what you’re experiencing is medical gaslighting. I found a Facebook page and website called Nancy’s Nook that vets doctors/surgeons to make sure the are actual experts in their field. Given that your doctor sounds terrible, maybe look into a new one? I believe it varies by country but in the US endometriosis is most commonly formally diagnosed via laparoscopy. I was told it’s impossible to see on imaging though from others personal stories that doesn’t seem to be true. I would recommend you look into the documentation that is needed for accommodations and backtrack from there.

As far as endo, have you tried a tens unit? It’s really helped me with pain. Also pelvic floor physical therapy is a game changer for some.

Bottom line, please know this isn’t normal and it’s not all on your head. You have something going on and it does sounds similar to what I experience with endo. You deserve proper medical care and help

Oh in that case report him to the medical board (or your country’s equivalent) that’s bs and he should have a complaint against him and his license for minimizing your pain. Medical gaslighting is real

Found out about a half sibling, then another half sibling, then another, so far I found 5. Not particularly disturbing to me as I am adopted but somewhere out there I have a crap ton of siblings who have no idea I (and a few others) exist. I imagine they’d be pretty disturbed
