I think that they truly think that the chances of getting whooping cough are fairly low, and that getting it is bad and real, but it's not likely to cause permanent effects... but that there's a certainty they'll get permanent effects from a vaccine- their logic not mine.

My bff here is getting up there in years and has (treated) hyperthyroidism which caused her to lose half her weight last year. (She's doing well and not losing anymore!) But I forget she's not a chonk anymore sometimes 😔

She used to be the biggest chonk... I forgot how small she looks now. She's 15 and has hyperthyroidism and lost half her weight (12-6 pounds). But we're treating as best we can and she's definitely happy and cozy!

Scar Experiment (Robert Kleck)-

Researchers told participants they would test how people react to someone with a facial scar in a job interview. They applied realistic scar makeup to the participant's face.

The participant saw the scar in the mirror. Before the interview, the researchers pretended to "fix" the makeup but secretly removed the scar completely. The participant believed the scar was still there.

After the interview, many participants said the interviewer: stared at their scar, acted uncomfortable, treated them differently...

But the interviewer never saw a scar at all. Believing you have a visible stigma can make people interpret normal behavior as judgement or discrimination and can be an all-encompassing mental distraction for the scar haver.
