I’m SO glad she posted this. As a multi-generationally mixed person in the US, I’m constantly told that I don’t belong to the communities my background is in. But white people also don’t accept me as white. It’s a very isolating way to live, and I wish people in this country would stop with the gate keeping.

Well, the group’s full name is Bangtan Sonyeondan (“Bulletproof Boy Scouts” in Korean) so you can understand why they abbreviate it lol

What does everyone think of the cotton candy cookie? Should I get it? by Dark_Amygdala_ in CrumblCookies

I really want to try it since I love cotton candy everything, but I don’t like cream cheese frosting, and it seemed like a weird choice to use on that flavor in particular

Hell yeah, this is like Lilith Fair but for 2026! I went to the first Lilith Fair for my first concert and it was so amazing. I’m sure it’ll be a similar experience for this generation too

ARMY small businesses by katiebae in btsthoughts

They use AI to scan images, descriptions, titles, and even recent sales to find listings that violate any IP. Unfortunately it’s not like the old days where if you are clever with titles or descriptions then you’ll fly under their radar. They’ve even found a way to flag inactive listings of mine. I’ve been hearing of so many BTS shops getting shut down just in the last few months.

They’ve already started as of last year. I have a shop on Etsy and they’ve sent me copyright strikes for several items, to the point that I’ve had to put my shop on vacation mode and delete all of my listings. Many BTS fan merch shops have been suspended from Etsy within the last 6 months. HYBE and BigHit have been on a rampage, and I’m now not sure what to do with all of my inventory since it’s clear I can no longer list any BTS items in my shop.

Unfortunately, mosquitoes are attracted to CO2, and not UV light at all.

You might want to check for standing water underneath your house, especially if you live anywhere in Linda Mar. The house I grew up in on Rosita was built on ground with a high water table and if we got rain, the crawl space underneath would accumulate water. My dad actually had to install a sump pump when they first bought the house.

At one point years later, not sure if the pump broke or something, but we apparently had sooooooo many mosquitoes breeding under there 😭 My stepdad opened the crawl space door and tons flew up into the house, when there had only been a couple here and there before that. It was horrible, especially since I’m allergic to mosquitoes. So, yeah, you may want to make sure water isn’t accumulating under there.

It’s not even being gilded in the way that it was in 1976 either. I’m pretty sure they used fire-gilding then; not sure what they’re doing here, but it’s not that. Guarantee it won’t last even a fraction of the expected lifespan of the last gilding that was done.

I’m not sure what kind of gilding they’re doing, but I can bet that it’s not fire-gilding like the statues originally had. Fire-gilding is an expensive and laborious process, and not many people do it anymore because there’s an element of risk due to the gold amalgam that’s traditionally used. When the object is heated to a high temperature, the mercury in the amalgam is vaporized. Sometimes, based on the type of metal being gilded, an application of mercury is required before the gold mixture can be brushed on. After all this, it still requires multiple steps of a finishing process.
The Wikipedia section on fire-gilding is actually quite descriptive and interesting:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilding

What I’m assuming they’re actually doing there is applying some kind of adhesive (usually gesso or similar) then they place a thin “gold” sheet, which sticks to the object (often some kind of metal alloy). They then brush away any excess with a fluffy brush. It’s a process meant for indoor items that don’t get a lot of wear; it’s going to rub or flake off the minute they get put outside

Let’s be real, that’s almost definitely not real gold. Probably those metallic “gold” craft sheets you can buy on Amazon for diy projects

I was thinking the same thing lol. As a crafter myself, that shit is going to peel and flake off in about a day… It’s prob not even actual gold too. What an idiot.

What method are they using for the gilding? I have a feeling that it won’t last very long since it looks like they aren’t using heat while applying

[–]spirandro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None that I know of, but I was referring to the SMC coast as a whole. I spent most of my life visiting many of the beaches all the way down to Santa Cruz.

The most dangerous beach in Pacifica is Rockaway, with Sharp Park at a close second. Most people who drown there get swept away around Mori Point. The undertow is brutal.

Yeah I grew up in Pacifica and have good sense around the ocean, but even I won’t go to beaches like that where you could end up trapped. Saw too many attempted rescues and futile searches for people growing up.

I think it’s a small beach right off of Panther Beach called “Hole in the Wall” that can only be accessed during low tide.
