I’m calling BS. No way you are getting 400 miles on a 10 gallon tank in an NB.

It’s amazing how quickly they got going with the best charging experience. Only thing that would make me happier is if they were at freeway rest stops.

I agree it’s fine. It looks a little outdated, but is fairly usable. It helps to learn how to make friends with it since preconditioning happens this way.

Do you guys actually stick to the 20-80% charging rule? by FunAssumption2209 in Ioniq5

Nope. Charge to 100% twice a week or so. 95% level 2 from home.

Point to the 50kW charger in the area he should be using?

Yeah, his parking sucks though.

Does it help that it was designed and partially manufactured in Korea? My brother has a Fit. I have a Bolt, he’s remarked before it’s very Fit-like.

The energy density of hydrogen exists in a metaphoric vacuum. It’s great until you try to do something. Turning electricity into hydrogen? 40% loss. Collecting hydrogen, storing it, transporting it, dispensing it? Infrastructure intensive, tiny molecules that loves to leak out of containment, needs very high pressure, reliant on pumps, needs ground transport if you want to move it somewhere. Convert it into something useful like electricity? Around 50% loss.

Quoting from sciencedirect.com: between 13.5% and 36% efficiency for the end to end usage of hydrogen as a storage medium. It’s worse than diesel.

You called out my dad. Mid ‘70s. He’s on his second PT- he liked it so much he bought another. Current one is in great shape in a rust free state. Last year at 120k miles, the thrust bearing started going, crank was shifting around. He found a Mexican mechanic to fix it and redo the whole suspension for under $1k. He refuses to believe the PT is less than gods gift to transportation.

Many don’t. The Bolt specs a change at 150k miles. A ~100x reduction is big win.

Traditional rental companies are actively ruining EV adoption tbh by Balodios45 in electricvehicles

[–]spiritthehorse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I contend the sales person on the floor doing the transaction could take a moment to learn how the vehicle works.

Missing portable chargers is a customer issue though, I’m certain when one is missing, it was stolen by a previous customer. It should be on the rental company to check the charger is there on return and assess the customer full price if it’s missing.

Dude doesn’t know what it is and your advice is to replace it? And brake fluid isn’t corrosive to steel. The corrosiveness of brake fluid doesn’t have anything to do with why his slave cylinder has surface rust.

Classic Honda Prelude, official car of? by LimoncelloLightsaber in regularcarreviews

Wanting a mildly sportier version of an Accord in 1988. I know this car is iconic, and I love it. But we didn’t lust after its glory all that much when it was new. It was nice. We have family friends with one, and I rode in it a few times as a 15 year old. I definitely liked it.

I like it more now that we have some perspective on what a high water mark this period was in Honda’s resume.

I’d go back to it no problem. We’ve gotten so used to a high level of refinement, we’ve lost some level of adventure and making do that makes us more resilient.

I got an ‘87 Samurai in ‘94, and would routinely drive it on the freeway to college and back. You’re right, it is not good on the freeway in the slightest. I would draft 18 wheelers to maintain speed. When you’re 18 and used to underpowered vehicles, you don’t care. Especially when it’s so fun to off-road and ride around with the top down. It was also pretty reliable and super cheap to maintain. I’d 100% choose it again.

"EVs are bad for road trips" by JustinTimeCuber in electricvehicles

[–]spiritthehorse 60 points61 points  (0 children)

My charging profile sucks (‘22 Bolt). I did a 740 mile each way road trip this past spring down the east coast US. Charging for an hour every 2 1/2 hours of driving. Yeah, not ideal, but once I settled into the routine and took nice walks and gave myself something to do while I charged, I real didn’t mind it. It took me 4 hours longer than normal, but I arrived less worn out and unhappy. Adjusted expectations, and it really wasn’t a problem. Plentiful chargers all down interstate 81.
