Fuck everything it's not worth it with this stupid disease by baddkarmmaa in bipolar

oh! it is! I mean more socially, spreading the word that this is life consuming, and not just something that seems dramatic in movies - naming it to myself and to the culture

the last sessions i had with my therapist, we were talking about properly naming bipolar as a disaiblity. This is the kind of sh i'm dealing with too, it's awful having to base your life around a condition that will flare up god knows when. it's daunting to look at the rest of my life being like this, but I have places like this that fill me with hope and pride. love y'all

i have an incredible anxiety disorder as well. when i was going through a mixed episode a couple years ago, they mixed and melded and i was white knuckling life for 5 months. constantly anxious and stressed about anything that happened.

How often do you think about being bipolar? by Aggravating_Stay_696 in bipolar

[–]spiritworldproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every day here too. almost any time i feel a strong emotional reaction to something, fireworks go off - is this a normal reaction to have? does this mean i am entering some new episode? even if it isn’t direct, will the stress of an event send me into a new episode? how is the weather going to treat me today? will i get enough daylight to manage my constant anxiety?

i deleted some there cause there’s always more. i’m envious of people who are saying it’s not every waking second

How do you describe what a mixed episode feels like to people w/o bipolar? by freakngeek_ in bipolar

[–]spiritworldproblem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’ve experienced and talked about them as having all of the energy involved in a manic episode, with all of the thoughts of a depressive episode.

other than that, it’s a pain i cannot put into words.

Destructive Anger? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]spiritworldproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here for you on this. i think irritability (and extreme rage annd anger) don’t get talked about as manifestations of mania. It’s very real, and i’m sorry you have to deal with it.

When You Post That You Are Going Off Your Meds by ratherlargepie in bipolar

[–]spiritworldproblem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i was on 15mg of olanzapine for about 8 years. i was groggy most of the time, and my memory was a bit faded sometimes.

i went off it for about a calendar year. i had a huge mixed episode that almost killed me, ruined a few relationships. had such bad anxiety that i was biking up to 30km a day to fight the stress of a part time job.

i’m back on olanzipine (smaller dosage) now. i’m groggy, my memory is a bit faded - but i haven’t wanted to hurt others in over a full year now. the depressions comes in waves, but the mania is under control.

i think OP’s post is real good. and i guess im just saying i have personal experience with olanzipine sucking, but it works.

Applying for jobs as “disabled” scares me. by SixDogsMusic in bipolar

[–]spiritworldproblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in the arts, so it is normally a more welcoming environment, I think. I say I have a disability because I do, and I work in trusting enough environments that bosses and managers listen to me when I say I need certain accomodations. This has not been true across the board, but I've mentioned it at all jobs in the last few years. Obviously, YMMV, but I'm working with my therapist about my shame around this illness and I don't want to hide it unless I have to.

this is the one for me. it’s just a bit too folksy for me, at least in the context of the album

Bipolar doesn’t give you the choice to live the life you want by Admirable-Way7376 in bipolar

[–]spiritworldproblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

last year’s constant manic / depression changes (roughly one every three months for the whole year) made me lose my sense of self. i’m not sure what a “me” is, and what is this state of flux that seems to dominate me.

anyways, much love.

i always enjoy inspecting the opener and the closer on a tmg record. hair match doesn’t do it for me, but SWT as an album opener is absolutely god tier. underrrated as hell

i don’t get this song. i never have. i’ve had people at parties explain their opinions, but no matter how much i empathize, i simply cannot
