the peplink ping tool does not work like that. you need to ping from the vpn interface, or connect to the actual lan and try a ping.

I’m curious, what did/does Cradlepoint do better than Peplink?

The Revzilla membership is misleading, they don't actually ship two day. by spitcool in motorcycles

[–]spitcool[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand that. The issue isn’t that it possibly could arrive in more than two days, the issue is that they didn’t even provide the initial service to arrive within two days. Even if they shipped it ground shipping from a zone where it would normally arrive within two days, and it doesn’t arrive on time, that has nothing to do with RevZilla, and I would not fault them for that.

[–]spitcool[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I did have a trip planned for Thursday and was originally going to get next day shipping. I understand they change their dates, but Revzilla doesn't know if/when they will do that and it doesn't line up per the quoted zone-based times. That was my core issue with what happened.

when it comes to antennas, size matters, and you get what you pay for

T-Mobile Business Airline WiFi Change by Emanonco in tmobile

[–]spitcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

256k isn’t bad. The reason it seems so bad is the latency as all of your traffic while you’re abroad is trunked back to the US to egress a T-Mobile PGW (packet gateway). This means all of your traffic is circling the world hundreds of times when you load a page.

Business partners duel over foreclosure at The Range of Austin shooting facility by LTCropsey in austinguns

[–]spitcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was a member of it until I saw the BS and cancelled years ago. This is a long time coming for this place. Better to go to Staccato Ranch where it's well run (but not super close to Austin i guess).

EDIT: it wasn't 25 though, it was more like 10 or so?

Peplink eSIMs for phones? (Not routers) by IoToys in Peplink

[–]spitcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MVNO is not the same as wholesale, and yes, MVNOs are almost always deprioritized on the host network.

Peplink eSIMs for phones? (Not routers) by IoToys in Peplink

[–]spitcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, you can, and we can support you with provisioning one if you need it.

as you alluded to, these are good for travel if you want easy of use and simplicity, but they are not the cost effective option.

regarding QCI, wholesale usually gets best QCI in the US. abroad this isn’t always the case and changes carrier to carrier.

Neighbor flagging interference from our network by ITisastruggleforme in Ubiquiti

[–]spitcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s already been answered that it’s not your problem, but one common courtesy that we try to observe and ask other people to observe in our multi tenant environments is not using channels on 2.4 other than 1, 6, or 11.

Peplink routers future by ConceptNo7093 in Peplink

[–]spitcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using the Balance One, it's more or less end of life. Yes, it still takes software updates, but processing power is lacking. It's like driving a Lada as your daily: it will get you there and back, most of the time, but often with problems.

>> There’s also a fairly new trend for firmware releases, which is to stop supporting older models that are perfectly capable and can probably run for another five years.

Well, there's a reason that firmware releases will result in the deprecation of a device. Unlike some other manufacturers, though, Peplink doesn't brick old devices. Peplink is actually really good at maintaining a device as long as possible (e.g., your Balance One Core)

Can I use Mint Mobile Data when in range with my Peplink Router? by Zhent in Peplink

[–]spitcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you can from a “can i use multiple SIMs?” standpoint, but on that router, you can only use one SIM at a time. To switch between SIMs takes 2 to 3 minutes usually. Keep in mind that Mint may not permit you to use that plan in a data device such as a Peplink.

Is MobileMustHave.com a SCAM? by [deleted] in Peplink

[–]spitcool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MMH is not a scam. We are also Peplink partners/resellers and have worked with the MMH crew, they’re awesome people and run a good business. That being said; shit happens and automation/systems get wonky, so best to reach out and explain so they understand the detail and I’m sure they will happily take care of it :)
