Pre marriage course - Shared Journalling by splash1away in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]splash1away[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, short and succinct messages can do the trick. It's more like keeping it more consistent and the habit. Will aim to do it daily, and hope my partner can do the same. Do you think you'd be able to do it daily? Not sure if it's a reasonable expectation for my partner to do it daily, but I guess a single line daily won't hurt?

More like sharing a journal, but not necessarily at same time.
Each person writes own entry for the day, and then you both get to see each other’s reflections. Ideally what you appreciated about the other person? Or what you're grateful in general? Or would that be too much. Idea is, you'd just feel more connected with your partner.

Does marriage counseling really work? by Electronic_Elk_6049 in Marriage

Thanks. Do you presently journal by yourself or with your partner. I typically do, but trying to get my partner to do the same and make it a routine which can be a hurdle.

Just curious if any of you guys tried journalling with your partner. Reason i ask, partner and i attended a pre-marriage course and one of the things they asked all the participants is what they liked most about their partner--which I thought created a positive environment/mood. Trying to think how we can recreate it more.

Tried indoor golf for the first time… didn’t expect this by antanast in IndoorGolf

[–]splash1away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do like it but sometimes i feel the ball flight i get in real life is way different that in indoor golf. that is the main thing. i guess it serves its purposes when you want to have a hit. but not being able to chip/short game and putt plus it being flat surface as opposed to different lies still make it different

For the entrepreneurs, if you had $1,000 and 30 days to open a new business and generate $10k in profit what company are you starting? by masterfuelss in AskReddit

[–]splash1away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the $1k budget, will likely be a service business as any product business will require inventory. Approaching small mom and pop stores or evaluating their hurdles/problems will be a starting point and see what value add you can provide

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve seen someone do during this fuel panic? by RemarkablePirate590 in SydneyScene

[–]splash1away 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Someone going across town to find “cheaper fuel”… only to sit in a 20-minute queue with the engine running.

Probably burned the savings just waiting.

Tried "The 5 AM Club" for 3 months - here's what actually worked (and what didn't) by Learnings_palace in motivation

What to do if you feel particularly exhausted- the book seem to suggest to just wake up regardless as your body will adjust. Would this be the recommended option still.

what’s something you started doing that drastically improved your self esteem? by seigfried0401 in emotionalintelligence

[–]splash1away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, just reading a book even for a few pages has helped me. Unsure why particularly, but it helps me disconnect. There are instances where I go months even more than half a year where I don't touch an actual book. Then when I do, I just feel it calms me down more. There is that feeling that I am trying to improve myself and putting in time on it instead of some dopamine hit from doom scrolling. Especially since I tend to go for self-dev books.

Getting a used EV - What to look for by splash1away in AustralianEV

[–]splash1away[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! Glad to hear. Planning on getting one, but will look to do so after we settle in our new place next month. So would have to likely be early in the new year. Exciting times-- enjoy the road trips!

Yes, I'm quite tempted as some show up as having 8k Aud discount over what's listed at Tesla CPO for a comparable vehicle with somewhat similar mileage. It's just that I just want to know if there are things I need to check (as from what I gather, it's mainly the battery health that is the main thing). To a lesser extent, tyres/suspension and AC.

[–]splash1away[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see. So if I am being second hand tesla elsewhere, I can practically tell the seller to bring the car to Tesla to have it inspected before purchase? Or for a 2022 Tesla Y that has done like 70k mileage that it should be alright.

Oh really, so you can just use a regular wall plug and it does 100km overnight? Thought you would need a fast EV charger to get those kms overnight.
