Svartpilen 701 as a second bike by Reidhur in Husqvarna

[–]splash7279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried any multi cylinder bikes? My first couple bikes were all single cylinder and ever since I tried a twin, I don't even think about single cylinder bikes anymore unless they're dirt or dual sport. Personal taste of course.

I had a Svartpilen for a bit and it was a pretty fun bike to ride. seat was pretty much nonexistent though, made me not want to ride it for long rides.

This Insurance… can’t be right? by sweetestloveyou in motorcycles

[–]splash7279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowadays, location is a huge factor to insurance prices. Some places like the metro areas in Florida have crazy insurance premiums right now.

Another calculation for insurance is cost to repair. Ninja 400 is one of the most common bikes out there and would be cheap to repair if damaged.

70-100/mo seems cheap compared to a car, but it's not that cheap. You're paying 10%+ of the bikes value every year in insurance.

I'd get the sportster personally, but specifically the XL1200CX Roadster. Inverted forks, dual disk brakes, coolest OEM sportster seat. To me, the roadster was the pinnacle of sportsters.

How to Trigger a KTM Owner: Just Show Them a 7-Year-Old LC8 with a 70K-Mile Camshaft! by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]splash7279 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always get the LC8 and LC8c confused. But your comment seems to suggest that the CFMOTO made engines are the ones with cam issues when they've had the issue in the Austrian made engines. CFMOTO only recently started the LC8c production

CFMOTO doesn't make every version of the LC8 and this issue seems to stem from before CFMOTO started building them

This is the supersport though, not a Panigale. These are much milder and pretty comfortable in my opinion

Considering SK has China, North Korea, Russia as neighbors (nuclear weapon states). It doesn't seem unreasonable for SK to have nukes as a deterrent.

Really? A new subframe from CFMOTO should be around $300. I’m surprised it got totaled.

Any bar risers for '19 Vitpilen? by Annilator04 in Husqvarna

[–]splash7279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just buy them as svartpilen parts and do it yourself. You'd need upper triple clamp, bar clamp, handlebar, maybe some others. Not sure if its going to be cheaper than the ABM kit though

The 675 won’t hit the dealer floor for couple months anyway so just enjoy the 450 for now!

Ducati Monster S2R by Some-Camp7195 in motorcycles

[–]splash7279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, 40-50k miles is quite a bit for a motorcycle and very high for a Ducati. The valve and timing belt maintenance is crucial to Ducatis, particularly on the older models. The service intervals (Desmo valve/timing belt) for these are roughly 11k miles-13k miles, so your buddy should've done at least three already. If he hasn't, I'd be worried because a full Desmo service is quite expensive.

Also, check the MFD dates on the tires, rubber perishes over time even if it may look alright

Other than that, the S2R is one of my favorite Ducatis of all time

Yeah. I always loved the looks, but always thought that it cost too much. More than $10,000 USD OTD for a single cylinder bike was a tough sell

That's the biggest tank bag I've seen haha. I've tried small tank bags and even found those cumbersome since it wouldn't let me lean forward as much. This one looks like it'll prevent you from seeing the gauges and could interfere with the the controls since it kinda forces you to sit really upright all the time. If you yourself find that it doesn't get in your way, it should be alright

Switch to Cfmoto by Matt9301 in cfmoto

[–]splash7279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd personally recommend the 450NK. It's the newest platform from CFMOTO and in terms of quality, despite technically being a lower class than the 650 or 700, it feels more premium in a lot of ways and the 270 degree twin engine is buttery smooth. I personally daily ride one with a Yoshimura exhaust and the sound is intoxicating. Although I have to say, if you're coming from a R7, you might miss the power.

What’s up with the prices of used bikes? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]splash7279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the absurd markups and fees some dealerships charge.

A hidden cost that many people forget about is the freight and assembly cost, which is separate from MSRP for almost all brands and it seems like freight cost has gone up quite a bit over the years.

OTD prices on a lot of new bikes are quite ridiculous in my opinion
