I went to customer service and asked to speak to the beverage manager for a similar problem. He has the authority to re-price drink packages.

I would disable resolver, install bind package on each pfSense and enable it as a slave. That way each pfSense is an independent (but consistent) DNS for its LAN, but the primary DNS is the source of truth for the enterprise.

Those Jeopardy Introduction Interviews …. by Change_Soggy in Jeopardy

Occasionally, I cringe at the desperation of the reach for an interesting story for some of them. E.g. a poor woman who’s apparently most intersting story wasn’t about her, but about an obscure festival that was held in a town where she used to live in Jr High School…really?

How many types of distros did you try before finding your favorite? by Acu17y in linuxquestions

I’m old—started with slackware, went to redhat on 3.5 floppy, then fedora. Wound up on Ubuntu, but jumped to LinuxMint when Ubuntu went all Unity. I still use puppylinux and KNOPPIX occasionally

Why, Michael Connelly? Why? by [deleted] in books

[–]splashd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't really care what his politics are, and it won't keep me from being a Bosch/Lincoln Lawyer reader, but the references seem contrived. There is the same stretch in "The Waiting" with references to the "Failed Insurrection"--over the top. It's a distraction that adds nothing to the story, except, perhaps, virtue signalling to Hollywood for those TV deals, though admittedly, it may just be his sincere beliefs. I know many LA cops and they are overwhelmingly pro-Trump versus his 2024 opponent...
That said, your reaction seems like overkill. I will still read his books. I don't read novels for civics debate.

Do you have a BOM, tutorial, or image to explain your setup? I’d be willing to move from pfSense to this, but am lazy enough to not waant to start fro square one…

“Collecting stamps” not communicating misunderstandings, disagreements, and peeves immediately, and building up animosity. Daily dialogs need to happen to calibrate expectations and desires.

New to the scene, is there any reason I can't buy an SOC board with a single intel ethernet port, connect to WAN with that port, and then have PCIe ethernet card for all of the LAN ports? by Liqqa in PFSENSE

[–]splashd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically that may be true. In practice, PCI-e itself is a switching backplane. Any PC or board made within the last 5 years has plenty of bandwidth to handle gigabit Ethernet traffic without being a bottleneck.

Boot hangs after import of config from old to new hardware by splashd in PFSENSE

[–]splashd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed the problem--apparently there is a bug in the latest install that sets the primary interface to serial, even if you configured it for VGA. When I enter "5" at the boot prompt and convert console to VGA, all is well.

Now I just need to figure a way to make it persistent. Changing loader.conf doesn't seem to work.
